A nice hotel that is looking a little tired in places. The breakfast room waiting staff are surly, rude and unhelpful to the point of being a tourist attraction themselves. Pretty good (free) entertainment for most of the day in the lobby area including some excellent local bands. Great surrounding area including strolls along the Prado outside and visits to... more
Avoid this hotel. It is highly overrated (specially by Lonely Planet). The lobby is fine with all the ambience etc. But one sleeps and bathes in the room. They are small, plumbing does not work, the beds are saggy, there is no aircon, the bath tub was showing its age, the elevators are scarce and scary, the service throughout is... more
Upgraded to this hotel on our recent holiday to Cuba.Facade and lobby very impressive but our room stank of damp and the service was surly. Opted for the"special" banquet in the magnificent rooftop restaurant- superb views- but there the superlatives end.Our guidebook says that this restaurant serves some of the fanciest foot in Cuba -well God help the ordinary stuff!... more
1st February 2008 Hotel Sevilla My husband and I have just returned from 11 days in Cuba. We spent three days in Havana. Havana should not be missed - all those wonderful buildings, broad boulevards and colonnaded streets but so sad to see such dilapidation. We visited two museums, the Musee de Ciudad and the Musee de la Revolucion -... more
please remember you are in a different country with a different culture, recommend that you sit in a cafe near the capitol and enjoy watching all the old cars, they are every where in the country. hotel was 8 out of 10 staff could not do enough for us. bed was clean, sheets were clean and we dined in upstairs... more
Remember you're in Cuba and make allowances. There are lots of excellent things about this hotel - lunch by the pool, breakfast if it's not been too busy, access to the old town, music in the bar, the guys who store the luggage etc. We stayed here at the beginning and end of an organised tour. Rooms on the South... more
The hotel is located in the centre of old Havana in a great location. The lobby nice with live music being played during the evening and sometimes during the day. The rooms are spacious and although a little shabby they are clean. A problem with the lighting in my room was sorted out quickly without any expectations of a tip.... more
The hotel should have two ratings. the lobby and ground floor areas justify a four star rating and even if you are not staying here it is worth popping in for a drink. The restaurant on the ninth floor is AMAZING - it is worthy of a five star rating in terms of service, decor, views, history and the fantastic... more
The hotel lobby is very elegant and the location is excellent. However we agree with many of the other comments, especially about the shortage of lifts and lack of proper stairs. The service in the bar and at breakfast was very slow. The rooms are dark and many of them have no view, we looked out onto a high wall.... more
