My wife and I recently spent a week in July 2008 split between Caneel and Little Dix Bay for our 25th anniversery. Over the years we have stayed at a number of different places on various islands. We were somewhat nervous over the mixed reviews that have been given by others at these sites. As our greatest love is snorkelling... more

7 Beaches! Water on 3 sides of the resort grounds! I saw deer! I saw donkey! The most amazing aray of flowers and trees in one place I have ever seen! I saw 5 turtles just off Scott Beach. I had dinner in the ruins of the sugar mill that is right on the resort! The staff was great from... more

There are few hotels at which you have such an amazing experience that you struggle to remember a single bad thing about it--Caneel Bay tops that list. Set in a most idyllic setting, you really feel away from it all. From the moment you step on the Caneel Shuttle that brings you to Caneel's own dock, treated to rum drinks... more

I write this review as I decide where we will go this fall for our annual tropical getaway. Caneel will not get our business this year, or again, until Rosewood either adjusts prices at this hotel in accordance with the quality of the property, or adresses the management deficiencies which have eroded the quality of this beautiful property over the... more

This trip was a last minute birthday celebration and i have to admit that the excitement level was up there before we even arrived at caneel bay. There is something about stealing away for a few days at the last minute.....i was so thrilled to go i probably would have been happy in a hut on a beach, any beach... more

Caneel Bay was an amazing experience. For a person who is just beginning to travel, it seems hard to believe that I could top this vacation. Things that I loved... ~7 Beaches!! The beaches were pristine, secluded, and wonderfully warm between the toes! ~Great first-time ever snorkeling experience. The water is calm and very salty. You are so buoyant you... more

Well, thanks to all the folks who contribute to TripAdvisor as I find it a wealth of helpful information. So in the spirit of giving something back, I'm relating my experience on my recent stay. I also want to paint a little picture about what I was looking for in a vacation spot so you can know if you might... more

There seems to be a little controversy when people review this resort. Just coming back from my honeymoon, I'll tell you what I know. 1. It is expensive. But most nice things ARE expensive. Is it worth it? In my opinion, YES. You want to drive a BMW, you have to PAY BMW prices. You can find more affordable options... more

We stayed at Caneel July 2007 for our honeymoon. St. John is beautiful so we wanted to marry on Trunk Bay. The resort said they would have someone pick me up at our room and take me to my driver for the wedding (cars cannot come close to the rooms so resort golf carts must do the work). Ten minutes... more

Caneel Bay has a "sense of place." It has a 50+ year history of hospitality and laid-back grace. SImilar to another original Rock Resort, Mauna Kea, Caneel Bay is not the fanciest, most modern resort. What it is is an old-school resort that makes the grounds, beaches, and animals the main attraction. The ground are beautiful. There are small plaques... more
