I stayed at QDJ a second time and brought friends along. We had a wonderful time and absolutely loved it! The service is the best--all the staff members are so friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt like part of a caring family. The owners, Arturo and Estela, are charming and interesting people. The rooms that we... more

We stayed at Quinta Don Jose because the pictures in the website looked charming. We wanted to visit Tlaquepaque and Guadalajara. When we saw the real place and experienced the care and politeness of all the staff, we stayed in longer. The ambience is really relaxing. The docoration is exquisite. The bedroom in which we stayed is comfortable. In addition... more

Tlaquepaque is a great place to tour and explore. But it was hard to leave QDJ because just being in the property was so pleasant and relaxing. Expert landscaping, relaxing music, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and eye-pleasing decor made it difficult to wander away from. The breakfast fare was delicious without exception. The hot chocolate was genuine Mexican, made the... more

Hadn't been to Guadalajara in 25 years, found QDJ on the internet and decided to try it as a "re-entry point". We planned on arriving on Christmas Eve and departing on January 1st. Figured it probably wouldn't be exactly what we were looking for in terms of giving us a real feel for the area (hotels sometimes don't) but went... more

Just spent two nights over Christmas at Quinta Don Jose before heading into El Centro for another five and can't think of a better way to ease into a week's vacation in Guadalajara. The other reviewers have already said it: the place is a hidden gem a block and a half off Tlaquepaque's square - and the staff easily outshines... more

We just returned from a fabulous holiday stay at the Quinta Don Jose. Our family enjoyed every moment of our vacation; the rooms were delightful, the service was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious. Our group included people in education, real estate, construction and art. We came to Mexico tired and weary...and left relaxed and refreshed. Thank you, Quinta Don... more

I had the most wonderful time at the Quinta Don Jose. The owners and help were absolutely the best in any place that I have ever stayed at! The service was amazing! Plus I loved the grounds and the detail given to everything, including the way the flowers are arranged at the tables for breakfast. The breakfast is a buffet,... more

While it came highly recommended from several acquaintances, we were still amazed at the superb quality of this little gem in Tlaquepaque. Every aspect of our visit was beautifully handled, and every staff member we encountered was clearly focused on providing outstanding service with the gentle Mexican touch. From the pottery inlaid reception desk to the crystalline pool, eye candy... more

What most of the reviews of this hotel omit mentioning is that there are really two separate hotels here, one so so, one quite nice. I stayed here for six nights. The first two nights were in the front of the hotel, first night in a single that had no exterior windows, the second night in a room facing the... more

This place is exactly what it claims to be and previous reviewers have it right. I loved it here. My six night stay was just what I expected from a boutique hotel in Mexico. It doesn't look like much of anything from the outside but as soon as you are through the electronic gate or secured doorway, it's a little... more
