The casa Maya hotel in Isla Mujeres was developed by owner señor Jose Lima as a Mayan town with its palm thatched bungalows around a coconut palm garden and 100 yards of beachfront. It has 22 rooms and offers a very Mexican, very Mayan atmosphere. It has a wide collection of reproductions of the best Mexican painters like Diego Rivera and his wife Frida Kahlo, a large collection of books about Mexican art, architecture, Mayan culture and history and señor Lima has now converted his hotel into a bed and breakfast hotel on the beach more » « less

We stayed here for 4 nights. On the internet the person with whom we booked the room with was very helpful and friendly but when we got to the hotel the staff was not very helpful or friendly. We stayed in the small honeymoon bungalow. Although this was supposed to face the beach, there was a fence blocking our view.... more

My husband and I had a very short but very nice stay at the Villa Kiin the last week of May. We stayed in the Small Honeymoon Suite, Room 4 and it was very nice. It had the basic TV with cable, a bed, closet with safe, and bathroom. It did take the hot water just a little while to... more

Just got back from Villa Kiin. This place is great for low key travelers. There was a communal kitchen where we made our daily food/snacks/drinks. The beds were SUPER comfortable. The bay that the hotel sits on was great for snorkeling. We even saw an octopus near the sea wall. The sand was clean. I should mention that the hotel... more

A glorified backpackers - not worth what they are charging. We were given a rate of 80$USD credit card or $74 cash per night. The room was dusty, the lights were faulty, the toilet broke and worst of all we had no hot water for the entire stay. After constantly informing the staff of the lack of hot water we... more

Quick Summary: Great beach and swimming at your door, within walking distance of downtown (about 10 minutes), clean rooms, VERY helpful staff (willing to help you with pretty much anything), good price. Perfect compromise of privacy, and closeness to downtown. You don't have to rent a superexpensive golf-cart, or constantly take taxi's to get to and from food! I see... more

No frills but a great location on a private lagoon. If you have kids and they like to snorkel it's great. Too bad the rates have jumped but others who've been back say it's still worth it. more

I have been to the Hotel Casa Maya now for 4 years and I have never had a bad experience. I love coming back to see the same faces every year. Fernando, Edgar and Juan are the best employees ever. more

We booked our stay at Villa Kiin (formally called Casa Maya) using Kathryn's travel (--). Kathryn was easy to work with, and it was convenient to work through her to find what hotels were available with one week's notice before our trip. She charged the regular fee of the hotel; if we had paid in cash there, we could have... more

I booked two cabanas at the Casa Maya in September, for December 26 for our party of 6. When we showed up at 8pm, exhausted and starving, the three kids at the front desk just looked at us and said they didn't have my reservation. I couldn't believe it! I'm not a newbie to Mexico or Isla Mujeres, and i'm... more
