What a beautiful, romantic place! We spent the July 4th weekend here and really enjoyed most of our stay. However, I strongly disagree with the last reviewer who remarked that "the construction noise is not an issue". It was a major issue for us, as our villa was at the very back of the property and very close to the... more

Before moving here to Los Angeles, I lived in Hawaii on the island of Kauai and worked for many years in the tourism/service industry. One thing that was consistently stressed and instilled by my employers was, "the spirit of Aloha". This spirit was a vividly distinct hospitality and attention to detail that consisted of extending a genuinely warmhearted welcome into... more

My wife and I were at the Tides last weekend as our last holiday without kids and you don't get much better than this! From the minute we arrived we knew we were about to live through something truly special. This is not a hotel stay - this is an experience. The service, the attention to detail, the food, the... more

My boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Tides after researching hotels online because it looked like a beautiful and exclusive hotel where we wouldn't be among a lot of people and kids. We wanted privacy and romance and that is exactly what we got. The hotel has only 30 villas so we didn't see a lot of people... more

The great thing about reviews on Trip Advisor is there is always some truth about the negatives. The same holds true for The Tides. If you are a frequenter of SLH hotels, Four's, Mandarin's etc. you expect 5 star service, food, accom. for 5 star prices. Its close, but isn't a Gold Lister yet. The positive's: Beautiful grounds. All that... more

Tides is an A when it comes to customer service. We had a back room which was great for the price we paid. We arrived on Sat. night and then Sunday was great, but when we woke up on Mon. we heard the construction from the next door. We had the furthest room from the beach and the way the... more

We have recently returned from the Tides Riviera Maya. After we booked out trip we read the reviews regarding the construction and expressed our concerns to the management. Julian, the General Manager, assured us that everything would be alright and he would personally make sure that our stay would exceed our expectations. Needless to say, Julian's promise was fulfilled and... more

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. It was so quiet and secluded. There was only one time the whole week that we weren't the only people in the pool! The service was amazing. We never felt the need to leave the resort. more

I’ve never been to Mexico before and ended up doing a lot of research before our trip, relying mostly on tripadvisor. We wanted to have a romantic getaway and we were particularly looking for a small and very serene resort. After reading many excellent reviews about this hotel we booked a week-long trip. I was a bit nervous because this... more

We stayed at Ikal Del Mar for our honeymoon...yes, it is very expensive. Yes, the drinks were very expensive. That aside, it was a dream. The location is beautiful. The rooms are luxurious, secluded, and very romantic. We spent our days relaxing on our patio or at the beach. We spent our nights drinking wine from thier wonderful wine list,... more
