The Hotel Lunata was a breath of fresh air. I had to extend my stay in the area and unfortunately did not find it right away. What a fabulous, friendly upscale hotel compared to other Playa del Carmen 5th Avenue hotels. I looked one day at at least 20 hotels in person and asked to see the room. many of... more

We stumbled into this hotel when our beach front hotel (Mimi del Mar) was booked and we couldn't extend our stay there. This hotel was very nice. Pluses: very English fluent and very nice front desk great central air conditioning, meaning *no noise* from the AC very new rooms tastefully decorated, good size beautiful garden and hacienda like entry way... more

In a totally uncharacteristic move, my boyfriend and I pulled into Playa del Carmen without a room reservation. We stumbled on the Lunata rather by accident (sort of...we had some impromptu help from the starred listing in the guide book), and got a room for about $100 U.S., which included tax and a light breakfast. We were most impressed with... more

Regretfully, My husband had just a very brief stay at the Lunata. As other reviewers have stated--it is difficult to find anything new to say. We loved our stay. I had read about Lunata on Tripadvisor and on my last trip to Playa, I was one of those people who stepped inside the property to get a better look. It... more

The reviews on this hotel are pretty much across the board fantastic and I don't have much to add or change about that. It really doesn't get much better for the price. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Pandora room, which faces the street. My only warning would be that if you are a light or sensitive sleeper, you... more

Great small hotel in the very heart of Playa del Carmen. Location could not have been better unless you want to be on the beach. Rooms were spacious, clean, and well air conditioned. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was adequate. more

After a most unsatisfying one night at the Hotel Colibri, we walked over to Lunata and they couldn't have been more helpful to us. They had no rooms, but made several phone calls to local hotels and secured a room for us, at La Tortuga, which was fabulous. The only problem was that Tortuga could only accommodate us for 3... more

Our stay at Hotel Lunata was almost perfect. As many others have noted, rooms on 5th Avenue can be a little noisy but between the tv and earplugs (provided by the hotel), it's tolerable and some nites, not an issue at all. We stayed 5 nites and found it very easy to settle in and feel right at home. Staff... more

The staff was very friendly. The hotel room overall was clean except for the hair in the bed, maybe the maids? This hotel is centrally located on 5th AVE which means you can also hear all of the noise from the street throughout the night, but the hotel does provide free earplugs. And rooms facing the garden may be quieter.... more

The Lunata is a 10 room hacienda-style hotel on the main strip in Playa Del Carmen - 5th Avenue. It is centrally located, walking distance to everything! Fantastic restaurants, ferry to Cozumel etc. are all within 10 minutes walk, with silver and other shops right outside the front door. The rooms are beautifully decorated with mexican-style furnishings and tile, and... more
