My girlfriend and I had already been around the Yucatan coast for a week before arriving at Zamas so had a pretty good idea of what to expect for what you pay. At $140 a night, Zamas was the most expensive of the hotels we stayed in but was the worst experience: - There was no air-conditioning which was extremely... more

We loved our stay, staff and restaurant at Zamas! The location and food were heavenly. I cannot rave on more about the restaurant. We ate the Gambas prawns every night. Highly recommended! more

We stayed at Zamas for three nights with our 1-year old son and were very underwhelmed by the experience. The rates were comparable with most other hotels/cabanas on the Tulum hotel strip, but not worth being woken up every night (too many times to count) by loud trucks, motorcycles, etc., and the crappy bands playing at the overpriced and mediocre... more

This was my second stay in Zamas. We stayed in Cabana number 10 across the road. I just love Zamas: the quirky rooms, the colourful bathrooms, the heavenly restaurant, the pelicans fishing in the sea. It is not a luxurious place but it is peaceful and relaxing. When I feel a bit miserable, I just think back of Zamas. more

great location. Tropical paradise. Live music each night. Great (if a little expensive) restaurant. Attentive staff. Clean modern cabanos. Private beach. Book a beach front bungalow. more

My friend and I stayed 4 nights at Zamas in March. We enjoyed every minute. Zamas is centrally located in on Tulum beach so you can walk to all other hotels and restaurants. The restaurant was delicious, preparing simple local fare. It was all moderately priced, maybe a little expensive for Mexico. The tables are set right on the beach... more

Zamas was perfect. We stayed in the large garden/ sea view room, really an apartment . It was across the road from the resort but only a few steps from the beach. It had 3 balconies,a huge bathroom,a sitting area with daybed, large sleeping alcove and a separate bedroom with a king bed. It was great for our family of 5.... more

We stayed at Zamas for 5 nights and got exactly what we were looking for, an escape from the plugged-in world. The Tulum hotel zone is completely separate and opposite of Cancun-life. If you have no interest in the busy, bright, loud club scene but want to see the beauty of the Gulf and the Yucatan - Tulum is the... more

I changed my reservation in Tulum last minute so I could stay with friends at Zamas. They didn't have beach front bungalows available so I took one of the rooms across the street. The room was big and had nice shutters and a safe and water and all, but it was next to some area where the employees hung out... more

I'd been to Tulum before, 12 years ago in 1995, when there were only two or three cabanas along the whole beach (Ana y Jose and the nearby Cabanas Tulum, where we had stayed as cash-strapped backpacking students). But nonetheless, the place was beautiful: calm, crystalline waters; large, beautiful white beaches, and most of all, silence. I went back this... more
