I travelled throughot Mexico and found the most pleasant, friendly people everywhere. EXCEPT Zazil Kin! The first thing that you meet there is an aggressive, smirking, ignorant [--] of a receptionist! Also, the place is largely overpriced. Only thing I can say is: never again and hope you won't do the same mistake as I did. more

The only thing going for this hotel is its location on the beach, although there are about 50 other places you can stay along this same stretch of beach - I would suggest you try one of the others. Without wanting to bore you with an essay: *Staff - rude, unhelpful, unfriendly *Price - ridiculous & not the low prices... more

We have stayed in these cabanas (Cabana Chetumal) for 2 nights and really loved it! The beach is beautiful and very closeby. The cabana provides the basics: a bed, a musquito net and a fan which you can use in the evening and part of the night when electricity is provided. We didn't need the fan at all. Just open... more

I stayed here just before peak time in mid-December. I was a little worried based on what Lonely Planet (LP) was saying that: (1) this place is always packed and (2) that this is THE place to stay in Tulum. LP was right on the first one but not necessarily on the second point. All of the beachfront of Tulum... more

Unbeatable location right amidst white sand dunes, only 10 minutes from the Tulum Ruins. The cabanas are rustic- but secure with locks, cement floors and cement fill. Definitely not a glamourous stay- beds are spartan (they have mosquito net) and there are no facilities in the cabanas. Shared bathrooms are clean as are shared showers (cold water only but considering... more

We arrived to tulum without having a place to stay. A taxi driver approached us and reccomended this place. He seem nice so we accepted that he took us there. To begin with, the reception guy was rude and unfriendly. He told us about the shared bathrooms and gave us the keys, in a very rude manner. We see the... more

We recently spent one night at Cabanas Zazilkin near Tulum. Our stay was supposed to be for 3 nights but we left after one night. First of all however I'll start with the positives. The beach there is the most beautiful we saw on a coast that has some very stunning beaches. The sand is so white that it was... more

We stayed here April 2006. Six in our party. 2 Seniors (79 and 83) and 2 40+ adults and 2 kids (6 & 12). We loved this place! We stayed in the building (which we had to ourselves) rather than the cabanas. We had a very clean, lovely room with a loft (containing 3 double beds total). The beach and... more

Zazil Kin is my favourite place to stay in Tulum . . . I stayed there last year & came back again this year. If simple, peaceful beauty is what you crave, here it is. The rustic candle-lit cabanas were clean, comfortable and well cared for. I like the ones closest to the sea. Nestled in the dunes alongside one... more

When we have stayed there, under either name, it was very relaxing. I cannot think of another place to go with as much relaxation available. You can hang up your hammock in your cabana, sleep on the bed, take your hammock out in the trees or on the beach, I think you get the message. Felt very secure while there,... more
