We love Tulum--best beaches, great restaurants, but most places on the beach lack airconditioning which is essential for this Northerner to get a decent nights sleep. So, we chose Parayso which does offer airconditioning. Room is large, but had challenges in communicating with staff. Monica was marvelous in helping us get things set straight. more

I stayed at the hotel for six nights in early May 2008. The staff is very nice, but the hotel doesn't quite meet expectations. I booked my room after reading the owner's assurance elsewhere in these reviews that electricity is provided 24 hours a day. It is not, at least not during the six nights in May that I was... more

We received a warm welcome to a clean and well-maintained property with a spacious room on the first floor overlooking the beach, palm-trees and the sea. We found the service good, the food excellent and the staff always on hand and friendly. We approve of the electrical arrangements which mean there is no national grid and therefore electricity only in... more

Stayed 6 nights. Might stay again if... WifFi and electricity are working 24/7. The generator is probably the least cost effective way to provide the power. Wind and solar seem to be the standard for this "Eco-chic" beach. Maybe a portion of those $170 / night room rates should go toward an upgrade here. My $170 would certainly seem better... more

Stayed at Parayso - for 2 days the week of 5/17/07. I would rate this a nice hotel. Service was fair, room was fair. Amenities, basically unoticeable. However, the hotel is on an absolutely extraordinary area of the beach. Soft white sand, palm trees, and great clear, turquoise water. The room had AC and a TV - not really knowing... more

It was good and bad. THE BAD: Electricity is NOT 24/7 as advertised, they turned it off at 11pm and it comes on at 7 am in the morning. The A/C is set at 24 degrees and can't be changed. Upon arrival they couldn't find my reservation because they have problems with expedia and online booking. Staff in the reception... more

Well, I really wanted to like the Hotel Parayso, but I have to say that my experience was so bad it was actually funny. 1. I told the travel agent that it was absolutely critical that the place we stayed have electricity all the time because my husband has sleep apnea and needs to use a breathing machine. She assured... more

What we liked: The location is amazing. Every room faces the ocean and has a wonderful balcony with double glass doors that open to the beach. The beach in front of the hotel is great for laying out and swimming. The hotel restaurant/bar has great drinks and food and there are many other places to eat nearby. It is a... more

overhaul very nice. Restaurant – excellent. Best Ceviche on the coast. Not open for breakfast though so we would take a short walk over to AnayJose or some other place… Rooms – fresh clean tastefully decorated. Good cleaning service and laundry service. Kitchens are not fully stacked so if buying own food get plastic utensils, plates. Pool – clean and... more
