I stayed here with my son and sister we were in because of my Dad's passing. We had a pleasant stay best views of any hotel on this block. My son was able to use free internet available to all hotel guests. The T.V was fine also. Only complaint was the toilet did not flush well. And to the other... more

We stayed at this hotel 'cause my sister had already booked this before I knew I was traveling with her. At 1st sight, it looked like a nice hotel, with nice decoration, clean and the staff seemed friendly. Our room (457) had 2 windows, both are interior windows so you can hear by the echo all activity that is happening... more

The lobby was stacked with construction materials and they put us in rooms directly above the bar. All the lights (the fluorescent, train-station lighting common in Mexico) operated on the same switch, as did the television. So you either had to sit in blaring white light or not watch television. They didn't mention that extremely loud, excrutiating, polyrythmic pseudo-Mexican music... more

We stayed at the Catedral, out of all the hotels around the main plaza, partially because the desk clerk was so pleasant and the price was more reasonable than other hotels and the lobby was attractive with a grand piano for my brother-inlaw to play. My room was large, but in need of a little modernization and sprucing up. My... more

Morelia, Michoacan is a beautiful city that I was told I had to visit on my trek through Mexico. It is a perfect example of what the Mexican government is trying to do with keeping the treasures of the past with us for future generations. It was once a monestary and you can feel it. Pleasant staff, rooms are average... more

Loved this hotel. Bathroom was marble and gorgeous. Carpeted room which is unusual for Mexico, with most having tile. Staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfasts were amazing and included fruit and pastry free. Amazing decor with Old Mexico charming interior court. You can choose balcony room (enjoy the bustle of the city), or interior room (quieter). I'll be back! more

I have been a regular visitor to Morelia over the past 5 yrs and have stayed in a number of the medium priced hotels around town. For me the Catedral is the best. It has a fabulous location and the feeling that you are in old Mexico without it being too kitch. Great meals and action in the portales outside.... more

I agree with the review posted on March 27, 2005. I stayed at the Hotel Catedral about ten days earlier, and would also not recommend it. I didn't particularly notice the place being musty, but the noise level was absolutely unbelievable. The hotel is overall a nice historic place located right next to the Cathedral, but the central courtyard has... more
