The Mettera Hotel is as advertised: cool, funky, and comfortable. Great breakfast bar, end-of-day wine bar, functional business center and workout room. A couple of caveats: if it's summer, book a room away from Whyte Avenue, which in the evening becomes a race track for motorcycles, none of which seems to have a muffler. Secondly, although Whyte Avenue is advertised... more
As others have said, the rooms are nicely appointed, with good quality bathroom amenities, good quality TV, location is in a high-activity neighbourhood. Our room faced the back, and was not noisy. The breakfast quality was so-so, but I appreciated the hard-boiled eggs. The muffin was stale. I threw out one of the things that sort of looked lilke a... more
Great hotel. The staff were helpful and very friendly. The room I stayed in is very spacious, quiet, comfortable and clean. The decor and styling of this hotel are excellent. You're right on Whyte and within walking distance to the U of A. This will be at the top of my list next time I come back to Edmonton. more
A very nice hotel overall. Free internet access, good gym and helpful front desk service. Comfortable , quiet rooms too(not noisy at all in my opinion) I recommend room 916 as it had a great view and was quite spacious. I liked the area also, which is right outside the front door. The only two things i didn't care for... more
I was booked into the Mettera when their sister property, the Varscona was sold out. I was initially dissapointed because I was looking forward to the Varscona- however the Met more than exceeded my expectations. The staff were lovely. The decor is fantastic in the lobby and in the rooms. A very comfortable stay. I love Whyte Ave- you have... more
We stayed two nights for a romantic get away. The staff were very nice and the hotel is just as nice. We stayed on the top floor facing the city as we request when we booked the room. They do room service, wine tasting with various cheeses at night which is a perfect pre dinner activity, in the morning they... more
I stayed at the Metterra for three nights in September. We arrived at 2:30pm and no rooms were available yet (check in is at 3). So we went for a walk along Whyte Ave. I really liked the location of the hotel: plenty of shopping (great boutiques), lovely restaurants, and the hotel is close to the University of Alberta (about... more
Clean, large and modern rooms in a great location. We travel up to Edmonton quite a bit and this has slowly become our favourite place to stay. We've never been unhappy with the price, room or service and the location is excellent. more
First off, I stay at many hotels as I travel around for work. This hotel is not worth the price. I think the basic rate is around 165$, and for dried out bagels for breakfast its not worth it. I cant say anything bad about the staff, however, as they were all pretty good. Aside from a bad breakfast, the... more
