If you want to get bedbugs, and use disgusting showers and toilets and have rats running around in your room than global village backpackers is the perfect place for you.The staff there is horrible no help what so ever. The only thing going for them in that they have a bar and you meet some drunk travellers so my sugestion in... more

I stayed here for 4 nights and found this hostel dreadful. We were told upon arrival that you weren't allowed to eat food in the room, which we didn't. But we had brought chocolate over for friends and didn't think it was safe to leave in the kitchen. So we left it in our suitcase. We moved to a hotel... more

Fun and friendly staff, great location, clean rooms, clean bathrooms. They also host gigs in the bar during music festivals and also have a lot of beds booked by various bands in for North by Northeast and Canadian Music Week, so it's a cool place to meet interesting people. more

I originally visited GVB back in summer and had an awesome time. Planning to stay for 2/3 nights I did two weeks. Friendly, inviting and FUN! The bar during the summer is outside, very mellow, very beautiful (if slightly pricey) - check the photos on the web site as my description cant do it justice. One word of warning, GVB... more

The Global Village Backpackers in Toronto is a pretty average hostel in my opinion with many pros though a few more cons. Pros: The hostel was very well located, pretty much where you want to be situated in Toronto. It's near all the attractions (CN Tower, Eaton Centre and Kensington Markets) and not too far from the club district and... more

We had a private room overlooking the CN Tower with a crusty old banana skin on the window but we did not complain as we was only there two nights. Although the room was very small the bed had clean linen on it and we were warm and tidy. What really makes this place is the bar to its rear... more

Pros: great price, room was acceptably clean, we were handed clean bedding upon check in, nice common area and bar, hostel is in the perfect location in Toronto...close to local neighborhoods and not far from nightlife. Cons: bathroom only cleaned once a day...by late night/early morning the shower was disgusting, our room had a curved wall so the curtains did... more

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 8 nights at the end of May this year, and i must say it wasnt bad at all. We stayed in a private room, but had to use a shared bathroom, which was ok, if a little grubby on times. The general atmosphere is pretty good, the staff are friendly and helpful, and... more

Had a great time here, I would definatly return, great location to everything - the hostel was good, friendly and clean. All the facilities you need there - washing, kitchen, internet access etc. My room was noisy at night due to some of the rooms being over the outdoor bar area, but we just joined in with the noise, it... more

Stayed at this hostel a couple of times when the far nicer Canadiana Backpackers down the road was full. It's fine as a crash pad, although the bathrooms were pretty grotty both times. You can't fault the location though; the second visit, we had a private room overlooking Spadina, with a view of the Tower from the window. One note:... more
