We were awed as we drove up to Dalvay-by-the-Sea. It is a beautiful mansion, with an equally beautiful setting. The little house we stayed in was very nice, with a great view of the bay. But then the disappointments began. As we were eating our dinner we watched as the high school students who were the servers re-set all the... more

This is our fourth trip to Dalvay by the Sea. We love the fact that there are no phones or televisions (although a phone/computer booth has been added to the "office" area). The setting is perfect. Ask for a room with a view of the lake and the gulf. The restaurant is consistently good and the staff is very accommodating.... more

Beautiful hotel that is actually a national historic site. Set inbetween the ocean and a lovely lake, the staff were very friendly and the room was very comfortable. Since it is a historic home, no soundproofing, so you can hear your neighbors loud and clear, but I always travel with earplugs, so they did the trick. My only disappointment was... more

We had stayed at Dalvay 25 years ago on our honeymoon and now returned with three teenage daughters. Truly a magical place with exceptional service and the tranquility of a being in the national park but only 20 minutes from town. We stayed in the cottages which overlook the lake - beautiful accomodations. Unfortunately we had unusually cold weather for... more

We loved this place. The hotel itself is lovely, with lots of wood furnishings and high ceilings on the first floor. We didn't mind the lack of phones, TV and Internet service -- actually, when we were there there was dial-up Internet service in a phone booth, which was a bit of a pain, but it did keep you from... more

What a lovely piece of nostalgia. The grounds and building are very well maintained. The rooms are sufficiently updated, the food and dining room offer some of the best food on the Island, and the staff is extremely accomodating. In September we sometimes had the beach to ourselves. The stars are spectacular, due to the remoteness. No televisions, phones, or... more

I first stayed at the Dalvay almost twenty years ago on a motorcycle trip through the Maritimes. I remember it as a comfortable and friendly place offering perhaps a dozen rooms in a somewhat run-down 19th century robber-baron's white elephant summer house, ideally situated virtually on the miles-long beach in the Provincial Park. The food was forgettable except for the... more

I stayed here with my husband one night only and was glad we hadn't booked longer. The rooms are very authentic, in keeping with a historic hotel but that means there are certain drawbacks. There is no soundproofing between rooms and our room was extremely noisy. We seemed to be above the kitchen and could hear the staff chattering, laughing,... more

I went to Dalvay in July 2007 with 5 girlfriends. We rented a cottage for 3 nights. What a perfect getaway it was! The cottages are large and well-designed with a cozy propane fireplace and a deck with inviting Adirondack chairs to sit in. The kitchen amenities are small but since meals are included we did not miss this. (A... more

There were four of us, three adults and one twelve year old girl (with long red hair and a fascination with Anne of Green Gables). We rented cottage number five for three nights. What we loved: 1.The location and setting are fantastic. Beautifully situated facing a lake on one side and the ocean on another with extensive and exceptionally well... more
