The L'Argoat is a small modest hotel near the Latin Quarter in Montreal. It is near Sherbrooke and St. Denis - not far from the University of Quebec at Montreal (UQAM). It is walking distance from the local bus depot (good for getting to and from the airport) and two blocks from the nearest subway station. I discovered L'Argoat a... more

Best location in Montreal...away from downtown, across the street from the metro, and within walking distance of bustling St. Denis, many eateries, parks, boutiques, etc. Leave your car in their free lot and take the metro anywhere you want to go in Montreal. Lovely, super clean small European style hotel with the graciousness of any 4 star accomodation! Gilles and... more

Came to town for Jazzfest and stayed a wonderful 3 nights at Chateau l'Argoat with our 2 year old son. Staff were quite friendly and helpful (even though we speak about 4 words of French among the 3 of us, we never felt like that was an issue). Our room, in the rear of the hotel, was very comfortable, light... more

This property is situated about 200 yards from Sherbrooke Metro (underground train) station, which means you can get anywhere in Montreal easily. Get a 3 day tourist pass for about £8. Rue St Denis is just around the corner, which offers plenty of restaurants and a great bar for beers, 3 Brasseurs, who brew their own beers. Get a pitcher... more

I had a very good experience at Chateau de l'Argoat. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. It was not fancy in any way. It had an old tube TV. Basic cable. No pay per view movies. There was free WiFi in the room with a very strong, fast connection. My room had a small bathroom,... more

We spent a weekend here on a vacation last summer and found this splendid hotel that occupies an old and unpretentious building at the edge of the Latin Quarter. Our rates were under 100 per night for a nice room with a street view. The rooms were clean and tidy. We really enjoyed the morning breakfast, and the staff there... more

My daughter (20) and I spent one night at the Chateau de l'Argoat on May 8th and both enjoyed our stay. Warm welcome, large and comfortable room. We had a 2-double-bed bedroom facing the backyard with standard bathroom. The size of the bathroom is the only downside I've found. Very small! However, plenty of hot water (showerhead was not working... more

We stayed at the hotel with my girl friend during our holiday. Mostly the hotel was quite good, but it had a few annoying features. You seem to get better service if you speak French. We came to this conclusion partly because I speak French whereas my girl friend doesn't and she spoke in English. We didn't like being woken... more

Based on other reviews this was the only hotel I wanted to stay at when we planned our trip to Montreal - and I wasn't dissapointed! The hotel itself is in a very convenient location (metro stop across the street, tons of resto's and shops nearby), it was very clean, the staff were very helpful (especially since our French is... more

I stayed here for 8 days in April. The hotel was very clean and my room, although meant to be a 'small room' was actually really big which was impressive. It had European charm which is what I was looking for. The price was excellent although my bed and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable which made the jetlag recovery... more
