Stayed in this hotel as a base to visit friends. Room decor was old but nice and clean. Staff were very nice, friendly and helpful but as we stayed a few nights and didn't leave each day until around midday - housekeeping didn't do out the room?? They actually went in with more supplies but just dropped them and left.... more

I would overall rate this hotel as very average. The room I was allocated was extremely pokey, with an uneven floor (and hence sloping bed), awful mismatching decor (including nauseating yellow wallpaper), and very gloomy due to the location of the windows, and certainly not living up to its possible former grandeur. The hotel itself is a prime example of... more

My wife and I stayed one night before departing for Spain on Brittany Ferries. the hotel looks superb but inside it is all a little faded and tired. the staff were very friendly and helpful. The dinner and breakfast menus were excellent. Our room was spacious but jaded. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the ferry terminal and... more

I use to stay here on business. The hotel itself is shabby - it has to be said. However, majority of the staff are very very friendly and accomodating. The food is Ok but the chef is flexible and will generally give you variations to what is on the menu. All in all it is OK but I wouldn't recommend... more

The hotel was lovely, the staff were friendly and the food was exquisite. The only bad thing is that it rained constantly but the hotel is hardly to blame for that. hehe There are some nice images on: http://www.thedukeofcornwallhotel.com/ more

My Husband and I were married at the Duke of Cornwall on Saturday 12th July 2008. This beautiful hotel has weddings and functions nearly every weekend it's a shame more of the people using it don't put their reviews on here. Melanie Williams our wedding contact was brilliant, she was always bright, cheerful and very helpful. We saw many different... more

The building itself is extremely impressive, but it does need a bit of a refurbishment inside. The room was fine, with a nice view. Unfortunately the bathroom was exceptionally small without even a proper shower attachment over the bath which I thought was a definite negative. I also thought the wi-fi access a bit of a rip-off. The dining room... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night in February, we had booked a non smoking double, however we were given a room that was really nice but smelt so much of stale cigarettes we asked to be moved which we were. The next room wasn't quite as nicely deocrated but smelt fine. The hotel has a really grand front... more

I stayed at the Duke for one night on business in early November. The hotel has a very grand frontage and looks impressive from the outside. Parking at the rear of the is not really adequate for the number of rooms and I was lucky to find a space. Check-in was friendly, quick and painless. My room was on the... more

Don't be deceived by the outsides: this is a hotel that has seen much better days. This hotel badly needs refurbishment. It isn't in the same league as a decent hotel such as a Marriott or Hilton, as you might expect, but Holiday Inn Express are so much better (and cheaper). I would even prefer to stay in the Plymouth... more
