It was okay -- but room quality was spotty. One room was huge and sparsely furnished and the other was cramped, low-ceilinged (I hit my head on the ceiling) and had terrible ventilation. The restaurant was just average. I expected better food. The parking lot was cramped and the alloted space for my car was too small. There is a... more

I've just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. First impressions were good, reception staff were very friendly and the building was beautiful - I was impressed to learn it had featured in the Thomas Hardy novel The Mayor of Casterbridge. The room was average, not what I would have expected for the money I paid, but I... more

Had three nights here during a short break in Dorset and we enjoyed it very much. Our room was up on the very top floor and was a bit of a strange shape with quite small windows, but I like quirky rooms so it was fine for us. I think there were probably bigger and better rooms to be had... more

Stayed just one night, managing to get a Superior Room (The Elizabeth) for just £49 - breakfast extra @ £6.95. So B & B worked out at £63 for the two of us. The room was across the car park in a seperate small building, and was like an apartment. Although a little inconv. when raining, well worth it the... more

I think it was a big mistake to book over the internet as we ended up with a very small room on the third floor (lift only goes to second floor). I wish I had rung the hotel and asked for a room description. Another review said they were ungraded on arrival at the hotel - we were not offered... more

Really good, comfortable, quiet, warm, friendly. The bar served an excellent selection of wines, ales, spirits plus the more popular drinks too. Friendly manager is quite happy to chat. There's also plenty to do in Dorchester if you're there for more than a stop-over like we were. For the money (shop around!) really, really good. more

I stayed at The King's Arms Hotel with my boyfriend for 3 nights over the first May Bank Holiday weekend, having booked this hotel on the basis of positive Tripadvisor reviews. We paid £89 per night, room only, booked through the Best Western website. On arrival we were upgraded to one of the 2 larger rooms in the annex (they... more

Stayed here for the night before my wedding. I'd been to the hotel for a cheistmas party a few years ago, and it is much better now than it was then. I had a twin room, which was nice and spacious... much bigger than the double room i saw. The rooms were well decorated. the bar was nice and relaxed... more
