Brighton: not an easy place to stay last minute if you really only need one night over the weekend. Result; a Saturday night at Landsdowne Place. I wasn't expecting the standard you find of the true boutique hotels of which Brighton has in plenty, (the website suggested it wasn't in this category) but how bad could it be? Well....I'm at... more

This hotel describes itself as 'Brighton's premier boutique hotel' and as providing 'luxury rooms'. The theme of the hotel is meant to be one of opulence. As soon as you enter you encounter a plush purple velvet reception area. However, the purple carpets in the communal areas were stained and set against oddly clashing brick red painted doors. We paid... more

This goes down as a happy accident. I only booked in here as friends of ours were staying at The Thistle and I was reluctant to pay the eye watering rate they were after for a single night in an identikit hotel. Our room was small but beautifully done out in art nouveau style, the bed was comfy and the... more

Stopped for three nights at this hotel (deal from laterooms), apart from the bar prices, I couldn’t fault too much about this accommodation, yes the room may have been a tad small, however, when you’re visiting Brighton my requirement in the room was comfort, cleanliness, and decent location to amenities….this hotel meet all those. We never dined in the hotel,... more

We booked our room through Expedia and was given a room next to the Elevator which could have been a problem however they thoughtfully turned it off at 11pm until 7am. The bed was comfortable and the room nicely furnished but it was so small that we could hardly get our two large suitcase in it. Some of the other... more

Some interesting differences of opinion of this hotel on this site. Having stayed there this weekend I would like to add my own view which I hope will clarify as an unbiased view of someone who stays in around a dozen different 4 and 5 star hotels annually. In summary this hotel does not cut it as a 4* hotel... more

My boyfriend and i stayed here for my 30th birthday and i loved it. Don't be put off by some of the complaints on this site. We came by train and it was only £4 and a 5 min ride in a taxi from the station and to be honest you really don't need a car in Brighton anyway everything... more

Can I start by saying that the term "boutique" is starting to get overused. Most hoteliers seem to take it as a reason to cover everything in velour or mock velvet and sprinkle some oversized furniture around. I have just had a weekend at the Landsdwone and was very excited about the prospect of staying at a very nice hotel.... more

I was really worried about visiting Lansdowne Place after reading the reviews on here, so much so that I felt very anxious the day before our trip, but I needn't have worried, we had a fantastic stay! A few niggles, but I would stay again. Ok, firstly parking is a problem, but try and come on the train if you... more

We travelled from Canada to England with Brighton being our eventual destination We stayed at the Lansdowne Place Hotel for 5 nights from 11 May onwards and really had an enjoyable stay. We had read the negative reviews and were somewhat apprehensive but decided to go anyway. We loved the room, it was spacious with floor to ceiling windows and... more
