Luckily we only had 2 nights booked at the hotel as we couldn't have stayed longer. Our room was very small, dark and dingy with ill fitting bathroom fittings. Our bathroom shower and floor was soaking wet upon our arrival in the early evening. I complained several times and eventually the manager came to wipe it dry explaining that there... more

We booked this hotel as a last minute bank holiday get away but almost wished we had stayed at home! The room itself appeared clean (bed linen, carpet etc.), although some of the furniture a little shabby. The bathroom again although clean, had paint falling off the walls and rotting wood all over the window sill. It looked like it... more

The cross hands claim to fame is the Queen stayed there during a snow storm, I only hope she never had my room, as you would have struggled to swing a corgi in it. Once i had got over the size of the room, went to the bar for some food which was actually quite good but on returning to... more

We arrived expecting a pleasant overnite stay. On checking in at 3.30pm I asked where we could grab a bite to eat, the answer was "nowhere at the hotel", but the bar did serve drinks all day. Great!! The young man added helpfully that the restaurant opened at 6pm but was fully booked for the evening. Double great!! I then... more

My husband is always telling me that I always see the best in things, but I’m afraid that I really couldn’t see the best in The Cross Hands Hotel, apart from leaving there (and the food). We were given a night accommodation (which was suppose to have a 4 poster bed, the most expensive at £115 per night) and food... more

I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at this hotel for such a pleasant stay at a very reasonable price. The birthday meal was absolutely fabulous, cooked I understand by a new chef (Simon). The waiting staff were also extremely obliging and helpful. You all made Miss Piggies 60th a very special one. The... more

12 of us stayed here, my 60th birthday bash. Staff excellent. New chef, Simon is putting his mark on the food, very good, had a special menu put together for my birthday meal. Excellent. I needed the disabled room, few things could be added just to make life a little easier. The rooms do need some TLC, but for the... more

There are apparently 5 good rooms in this Hotel, but if you are not lucky enough to get one of those then do not bother! The rest of the rooms feel like a nursing home that has seen better days! They ensured me that they were going to have a refurbishment soon and it is definitely needed. Will not use... more

Although clean, the hotel was rather shabby. One night my husband and I dined between 2 de-humidifiers with tubes leading to dirty buckets. There were not enough waiting staff -as usual with Old English New Bridge etc.. We had to wait 45 minutes for our starter even though there were only a few other people in the dining room. But... more

we stayed sep 10th at the cross hands, it was shocking our first impressions were good but when we went to the restaurant our problems started, first of all there must have been 25 tables yet only one couple sitting there, we thought it is early only 19:30 maybe more will come, we sat down and read the menu food... more
