Considering the star rating and cost of staying at this hotel, the rooms are small and relatively basic ( not even enough toilet paper ) and the staff appear totally disinterested in providing a service. I always try to look on the bright side of anywhere I stay, and I'm definitely not known for finding fault... but the Cheltenham Barcelo pushed even me to the limits! The place was tired looking, poor service and over priced. One room the sink and furniture was stained, the wall paper was coming off and had it a disitnct mould smell. The only saving grace was the food was of a good standard. Wouldn't stay there again. more

Like other reviewers the overbearing heat in the bedroom (for a cold April day) was puzzling. The old wooden framed windows with filthy window seals would only open a couple of inches. There were whole strips missing off the wallpaper in the bedroom (see photo) and the bath had broken tap furniture and rotted ends to the wooden bath panel.... more

Do not be fooled by the pictures - the reality is much more tired. It is an old hotel or pub that has been greatly extended. It is what I would classify as a 'training course' hotel. Rooms are adequate, restaurant was just about acceptable although hugely overpriced (breakfast £12 dinner £27). I would prefer not to stay there again... more
