We stayed in the Captain Keyte room which was charged at £205 for 2 people on a D,B&B basis. The room was clean but small although the bathroom was quite spacious. The only means of showering was by means of a tap attachment but no hook on the wall for the showerhead and no curtain. Dinner seems to be prepared... more

Booked The Royalist for a special birthday treat. It turn out super and the staff were very helpful. The hotel goes back in history quite away but the rooms very much up to modern standards, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was everything one would expect and the evening meals divine. Recommend to anyone wanting something a bit special. more

Had my concerns about the hotel as prior to our stay I had emailed them twice re directions and had not response despite getting read receipts both times !! I booked this hotel for my 40th Birthday last weekend and despite the initial reservations was not disappointed. We stayed in the Cavalier suite which was beautiful and very well laid... more

Spent my birthday at this lovely hotel - we stayed in the Maugesbury Suite which was very nicely furnished and quiet. The bed was huge and so comfortable I didn't want to get up the next day! The 'sunken jacuzzi' wasn't quite as I'd expected - a standard bath with jets and definately not big enough for 2 if you... more

I booked this hotel for a "surprise" weekend getaway for me and my girlfriend and it more than met my expectations. Our room was clean, comfortable and - although a little careworn in places - it was well worth the price. We found the staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. One of the Royalist's main advantages is... more

I'm amazed at the some of the reviews on this site for the Royalist. Maybe you're standards are monumentally high, or you just like a moan, but the Royalist was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The greeting at reception warm and friendly, shown to our amazing room, which was a lovely size, tastefully decorated to a modern standard whilst... more

My girlfriend treated me to the Royalist for a two night stay for Xmas and as soon as we arrived i knew she had made a great choice. The suite we stayed in was outstanding and we enjoyed reading the notes people had left over the years in the cracks in the wooden beams....And don't worry your encouraged to have... more

Our stay was saved by the friendliness of the Staff. the room was vastly overpriced for what it was. Drinks are also pricey. Extractor fans go off in the middle of the night to wake you and keep you awake. I don't recommend staying. more

Stayed here with five girl friends as a low-key hen weekend getaway. The hotel was perfect for our needs - clean and homely bedrooms, decorated nicely and with comfortable beds. The staff were very helpful and courteous throughout our stay. We had a dinner, bed and breakfast package which was excellent - would highly recommend the restaurant and the bar... more

Old but charming and clean. The rooms were a nice size. We had 3 rooms and all were newly decorated. The hotel is very old and has many meandering hallways. A little confusing but interesting. Stow on the Wold was an excellent location. Stow is a big enough town to have restaurants and shops. Easy access to the Cotswolds and... more
