My girlfriend treated me to the Royalist for a two night stay for Xmas and as soon as we arrived i knew she had made a great choice. The suite we stayed in was outstanding and we enjoyed reading the notes people had left over the years in the cracks in the wooden beams....And don't worry your encouraged to have... more

Our stay was saved by the friendliness of the Staff. the room was vastly overpriced for what it was. Drinks are also pricey. Extractor fans go off in the middle of the night to wake you and keep you awake. I don't recommend staying. more

Stayed here with five girl friends as a low-key hen weekend getaway. The hotel was perfect for our needs - clean and homely bedrooms, decorated nicely and with comfortable beds. The staff were very helpful and courteous throughout our stay. We had a dinner, bed and breakfast package which was excellent - would highly recommend the restaurant and the bar... more

Old but charming and clean. The rooms were a nice size. We had 3 rooms and all were newly decorated. The hotel is very old and has many meandering hallways. A little confusing but interesting. Stow on the Wold was an excellent location. Stow is a big enough town to have restaurants and shops. Easy access to the Cotswolds and... more

We booked this hotel after finding their website, where the rooms do look very well presented. That was our first mistake! The broken cabinet with faded pictures of the rooms outside the front door of the hotel give you a taste of what you are in for. We had booked a superior room, but were disappointed with the size of... more

We booked The Royalist for a weekend and invited 28 guests to help celebrate my 50th Birthday. Having read the previous reviews we were a little apprehensive, but our fears were soon put to rest and were anxious to share our experience with others. The reception when we first arrived was warm and welcoming; the accommodation was clean and inviting;... more

The owners have obviously got a bit greedy and converted the garage out the back in to four very very very small rooms. You could not swing a mouse in them let alone a cat!!.Oh! and they look out..........wait for it........over the car park(which has spaces for four cars!!) and the dustbin area!! All this for £100 a night. The staff were... more

We stayed one Saturday night here on our way down south. The hotel has a good ambience and our bedroom was spacious and comfortable, with nice touches such as chocolates and fruit. The restaurant is smart but cosy and the food and service at both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staff were all friendly and very obliging. The only... more

Paid quite a lot of money for a pokey little room out the back, via the tiny car park with remains of some kind of building work. Room was very small and plain, although clean and with a good TV. Basically like a travel inn only smaller. No proper mirror. Massively over priced. Won't stay again. Even charged me for... more

The website looks good but in reality the hotel is in need of renovation. The housekeeping is dreadful, the suite needed repainting and the bathroom needed ripping out and starting again! AND it's really expensive! The only plus point is our breakfasts were quite good..... Do not stay here, try one of the B&Bs instead..... more
