After a fantastic meal at the Queens Head back in 2004 during a camping trip to the Lake District we decided to return, this time to stay in the hotel. We looked at the brochure and website and had high expectations of what looked to be a cosy old english hotel serving top quality food. We had read some of... more

We have been staying at this hotel on and off for the last 15 years and it is a lovely hotel but is looking faded now. When we first stayed the soft furnishings were beautiful but the same ones are now looking faded and in need of renewing. The shower in our room (No. 8) was also poor and the... more

Having found this Website only a few days before our 3-day break at Hawkshead, it was with some trepidation that we arrived at the Queens Head Hotel. However, the whole experience met the high expectations generated by a super Website and brochure that both suggested something better than the norm for a country pub. The room [& its en-suite] was... more

I stayed at the queens head in December with my elderley mother who has since passed on. the staff were the friendliest and most helpfull we had ever encountered. the food was incredible and the whole stay could not have been better. on the very day my mother departed she told me that her stay at the queens was the... more

A lovely stay, welcoming and friendly staff, the manager even carried my bags in! Newspapers to browse through whilst we had a drink, a good choice of real ales, and good coffee! Breakfast was plentiful then for when we went on the local 'Go Ape' in Grizedale Forest, they even made us a packed lunch which was excellent. Back to... more

We have just returned and having read the reviews on the Queens Head before leaving I thought I would give my opinion. The room was nice but small, we were in room 8 which unfortunately was above the kitchens, so until midnight we had the noise of the extractor fans, which resembled a jet engine in the distance and the... more

A very warm welcome was extended by the host, even though we were looking to check in very early. The food was first rate and plentiful and both the waiting and bar staff were extremely friendly and eager to please throughout our stay. The hotel itself was olde worlde but was by no means outdated. We booked our trip on... more

My husband booked us in here for our 1st anniversary as we had eaten here 2 years ago and the food was good and we thought it was quaint. I have never stayed in a worse place-we were given room 9 which was the size of a shoe box and had a romantic view of scaffolding?! It was over the... more

I was really looking forward to our 2 night stay at the Queen's Head. The brochure and website made it look fantastic. I was really disappointed to find out that this wasn't an accurate representation at all. Our room was very small and located above a really loud extractor fan from the kitchen. This ran from 8am to 10pm and... more

My husband and I were really excited about our trip to Hawkshead and based on the beautiful brochure sent out by the Queens Head Hotel, we were also looking forward to see the hotel. We couldn't have been more disspointed. Our room was very shabby and cheap, and the patio, which looked so cute in the pictures, was no more... more
