In June 2008 we bought a voucher on E-Bay for a 3 day/2 night B&B break for two people at the Clifton Bridge Guesthouse. This cost us the princely sum of £64. We decided to visit York at the start of September. Availability for Monday/Tuesday nights was no problem - the guesthouse was quiet. We were warmly welcomed at check-in.... more

Just returned having spent a weekend here and was pleasantly suprised at how much we enjoyed our stay after reading some of the reviews. All we can say is ignore them and try for yourself. Greeted by Tony the manager on our early arrival who made us feel welcome ,he was very friendly and informative nothing was too much trouble... more

Doors locked when we arrived, had to phone a number to be let in. The front reception stayed locked for the entire 3 days. The hotel was cold when we arrived and also the bedrooms. Booked 2 rooms and one had black mould on the walls and ceiling paper peeling off, asked to be moved and were put into family... more

We were greated by Tony, who is a very nice guy. Tony also cooked us a nice English breakfast. We walked to the old part of York from this hotel (actually called the Clifton Bridge Guesthouse), which took about 15 minutes. York is a fantastic place to visit, and I recommend attending the FREE York tour, as it is terrific,... more

We arrived early (9am!) and were greeted by Tony, the manager, who immediately knew who we were and told us he would sort our room out asap (as... more

Loved it! I stayed for one night in March 2007, and I couldn't have been happier. My room was fine, the breakfast was good, and the manager knew my name when I checked in. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk into York's city center, and if I return to York, I'll stay at the same place. more

We mainly chose this hotel beucase they offered a one night stay which seems rare in York. We had also read that reviews on here that it was a good place to stay. Our room was ok, quite small but clean and comfortable for a one night stay. The hotel is about a 10/15 minute walk from the city centre... more
