First ever visit to the York area, we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Carol made us feel so welcome on our arrival, we felt at home and relaxed straight away, which was just what we needed. Nothing was too much trouble, & the information we needed about the area to make our stay more enjoyable, Carol... more

Not that easy to find but well worth the effort. Homely and caring. The tea and cake on arrival was a meal in itself. Second visit and would recommend it unreservedly. Price reflects location but that's life! Just make the effort to find it and you'll not be disappointed. Bill Blake more

In May, we made our first trip to the UK. After a long day driving in the rain, we arrived at Claxton Hall. Carol greeted us with tea and cake and showed us to a lovely guest room. We spent one night at Claxton Hall Cottage (12/06/07) and were most impressed at the quality of the room (large enough for a four poster bed and had a settee in it as well) and the presentation and cleanliness. Carol gave us a very warm welcome which included a pot of tea and lovely home made cake. The house is... more
