We visited York last weekend to attend a family birthday party & have to say, how delighted we were with the Ashbury (think it's actually the Ashberry?). We were greeted by Kevin the owner who was most helpful in ensuring we had a parking space & carrying our bags to our room. Our room was very tastefully decorated, with a... more

Having read the excellent reviews of the Ashberry we were really looking forward to our 3 night stay. On the plus side: The location is ideally situated to the centre of York - a 15 minute walk away - with the added bonus of a bus stop right outside the hotel. The bed was quite comfortable. Things that caused concern:... more

We have just returned from a visit to York, to see our son who is working there. We looked for a reasonable B&B and Trip Advisor had rated this one well. I e-mailed the hotel and then verbally booked after a quick response from the owner - Kevin. He is a really friendly chap once you get into conversation. The... more

I booked last minute for an overnight stay on business, having seen reviews on TripAdvisor. I needed somewhere within walking distance of the station and not too pricey so this fitted the bill perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by the room - very spacious, nicely decorated and a modern bathroom. Bed was comfy too which is always a bonus. A... more

arrived for a short stay to get away from the hussle and busstle of leeds. great breakfast and great host. I was called back to Leeds on business, but this gave my wife chance to shop until she dropped. When I arrived back she commented on how homely the hotel was. We later discovered she had been sitting in the... more

We stayed over at the Ashberry Hotel and we were very impressed with the hospitality. As this was our first visit to York the proprietor was really helpful as to the places we should visit. He had even convinced us to go on a ghost walk which was thoroughly enjoyed by us both. Although the Hotel Ashberry is within walking... more

One of the best B&B's we have stayed in - a large room and a very modern ensuite. Nothing was a problem for the proprietor, from providing a parking voucher to doing our laundry! Breakfast was excellent - overall a very pleasant stay within walking distance of the city walls. more

My daughters stayed in The Ashbury Hotel for one night. The manager was very friendly and helpful and I had no worries about them staying here as our hotel was full. They said the rooms were clean and comfortable with a large ensuite. The breakfast was excellent and the location to York centre was only a short walk away. Would... more

Stayed a Saturday night at the Ashbury, lovely hotel/B&B, really nice cosy rooms, no floral chinz or faded decor as in some B&Bs. Not esp cheap (£75 a night) but that seemed to be same as other hotels/options in the area. Good quality english breakfast, would recommend. more
