Stayed in this hotel for two nights for my birthday with my wife and 2 year old son. We picked this hotel as it look great on the internet and that it was in the town itself. The actually hotel facilities were nice but the staff was terrible. For a start we booked well in advance stating that we need... more

This is our third stay at the Mercure Eastgate and we like it more each time. Very pleasant environment and comfortable room. Especially pleased when we got a good rate that included breakfasts. more

We had two nights in Oxford, and as I had stayed briefly here last year I was happy to return. The hotel lobby has been renovated since - and very nicely, so that it blends into the restaurant. The parking lot behind is often full - but had space for our car, without complaints. Getting to the hotel requires driving... more

I was on a business trip for two days and stayed at this hotel for two nights in July 2008. Overpriced and dumpy might be the best words to describe this hotel, but there were a few redeeming factors. One of those was the helpful staff. I found them to be helpful and friendly. No problems here. After checkin, I... more

We stayed here for one night in early July 2008. Although I'd asked for early checkin after a sleepless trans-Atlantic flight, no room was available. Three were empty, but "housekeeping" had just started on them. The wheels of housekeeping grind exceedingly slow at the Eastgate--I arrived around 9 AM and did not get into a room until around 1:30. The... more

Our stay at the Eastgate was very enjoyable. We drove there (beware - there are now daytime restrictions about driving down the High from Carfax to the Eastgate with a £60 fine apparently!) and were able to park in the carpark behind the hotel, for which there is a £12.50 charge per 24 hours, but this seems worth it to... more

Um, not the worst hotel in the world but far from the best either. The elevator was “broken” when I got there and the lady who checked me in asked if I needed any help with my luggage. I accepted the help and suddenly, she looked like I had asked for her firstborn (I was only on the first floor... more

On 1st impressions it seemed like a nice but very very overpriced bog standard 3* hotel. The staff seemed polite but from the start things were wrong. I booked over the phone and when i arrived they had let out the room i booked- the only available for wheelchair users. The hotel apologised and arranged for the couple in room... more

Room was small but lovely. Lots of cushy pillows, big fluffy towels, deep soaking tub; very comfy overall. Construction that is referenced in other reviews is completed and looks great. Location couldn't be better. It's 1/2 block from the airport bus stop and within walking distance to everything. Compared to other "luxury" hotels, the price was good, too. It was expensive,... more

We stayed at the Mercure Eastgate for 3 nights from 12th March and were pleasantly surprised. We parked up and approached the front door, dreading what we would find behind it based on previous reviews. What we found was a modern, spacious reception area, obviously recently refurbished as you could smell fresh paint on the walls and polish on the... more
