My husband and I have just returned from 2 weeks holiday in England which we thoroughly enjoyed with the exception of our 2 days in Oxford. On arrival in the City we went to the Information Centre about noon and enquired about making a reservation for accommodation. The lady suggested Newton House to us and we paid a deposit and... more

My wife and I stayed there for four nights in April. I agree with the others about the decor being a little tired, but that did not bother us. The mattress was comfortable. The bathroom had been rececntly refurbished, and was almost luxurious (a very roomy shower stall). Having read here about road noise, we asked for a rear room... more

However, within a nice walking distance to Oxford and close to River Walk which leads around the crewing areas to Christchurch (gorgeous... more

The room was nicely decorated with old fashioned looking wooden furniture which I myself loved - much nicer than flat... more

I never book anywhere now without checking out trip advisor first, I learnt the hard way after a disaster trip to york last year. The Newton only had 1 review this year which although it was a good review this did make me wonder. However my worry was not needed. Having never been to oxford before I picked Newton Guest... more
