Managed to get a space in car park, check-in smooth, staff pleasant and a good first impression from lobby and bar area. Rooms clean and adequate. A large group staying at hotel prevented us from getting an immediate table for evening meal but staff made an excellent recommendation about nearby restaurant, The Exchange. Similarly, in the morning, we had to... more

We stayed in room 513 for 1 night on Saturday 24 May 2008. One night was enough! This hotel is close to the shops, restaurants and nightlife. Its easy to find and we were able to park the car in the private underground carpark. The staff are pleasant, the hotel is clean, and the rooms are nicely decorated, and have... more

We were staying in Derry visiting with friends in the area. The hotel is centrally located and an easy walk from the Guild Hall, pubs, shops, and the Derry City Museum. We found the rooms small and cramped and poorly lit. The hallways were always smoky. The breakfast was self-service and quality of the food could have been much better.... more

We booked this using our hotelclub member $ for 2 nights in April 2008. Plenty of parking, but we stayed on a Sunday and Monday night so this probably had something to do with it. Very small parking garage underneath the hotel which is on a first come first served basis. Lobby is bright and spacious. The bar and restaurant... more

Just back from a short break in Derry, never felt more at home! The City Hotel staff were warm and welcoming and managed to have a room ready for us despite our (very) early arrival (8am!) We got a great rate with breakfast included and the breakfasts were fab, full hot selection plus warm croissants and pastries and fresh fruit.... more

Having clarified what 4-stars means in the AA system (see www.theaaa.com) I have to admit this is a AA 4-star hotel, but it's not what I'd consider to be a 4-star hotel! To be fair, we rocked up after 9pm on a Saturday night looking to book a room for the night and were accommodated straight away. The only sour... more

We stayed on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, to our amazement the hotel bar closed at 10:30pm on the Sunday evening - we asked if there was a residence longe which the staff said no - as it was not opening due to the Easter rising - if we had known this previously we would have stayed in any other... more

I booked this hotel as part of a business trip in Derry and was very impressed by the photos and reviews I looked at online. The foyer and reception area was modern and clean and the staff could not be faulted as they were very friendly and helpful. The view of the river from my room was beautiful and there... more

We travelled to Derry in March 2008. The hotel is located very close to the city center and has an excellent location. We asked for a family room. In Europe this is also called a Triple. The room had a double bed for 2 people, and a single bed or twin. The room was very nice, the furniture good quality... more

I stayed here only one night, but was enough to appreciate the location (near everything:Tesco,2 large shoppring centers,Ulster bus station, tourist office, river, city center...), and the nice rooms, public areas and facilities. Pool and gym is situated on the 2nd floor,I didn't use any of them, but areas were clean and tidy. The only computer for guests' use is situated in the leisure... more
