I'm glad I listened to other people's reviews of this hotel because it didnt let us down. The location as others have said is on a univertity campus which is about a 20+ minute walk into the old town, but you can easily get a bus from outside the hotel (main road into city) and also like any big city... more
Excellent place to stay on a visit to Edinburgh. Attractive old building, modernised very intelligently to ensure a comfortable visit. Large bedroom, big bathroom-both well-equipped. Staff helpful and friendly. more
My daughter and I were visiting the University of Edinburgh and I booked our stay through their website edinburghfirst.com. Easy to do and when I had to change the dates of the reservation, they were very nice and accomodating. The hotel is NOT in the center of town which is good because it is quiet and peaceful but you do... more
Top-notch hotel. I've stayed at lots of hotels in the past six weeks, and this was clearly the best. Large, comfortable room with very comfortable bed. Bathroom was huge with fantastic shower. All staff were very, very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was terrific, including cereals, fruit, yogurt, and a cooked breakfast if you wanted it. Rooms were quiet and well... more
This hotel was excellent value for money! We stayed in the standard double room which was huge with high ceilings, large bathroom and all the little extras (eg trouser press). But the breakfast was my highlight! huge array of delicious food and good hot traditional scottish breakfast. Would deffinitley recommend to anybody. more
This was just too good to be true. For the price this is sheer luxury. For location its so easy and cheap to get to on the buses from the center and to the airport, I'm amazed there are taxis. The reception is just up the road by the Pollock Hall campus - but this just serves to make the... more
Staying with a group of collegues for a couple of days in Edinburgh we almost booked the entire hotel and what a hotel it is! My room was modern, fresh, clean, comfortable and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable and had one of those duvets that you cannot get out from under in the morning it is so warm and... more
Lovely place - highly recommended - but ask for directions when you book as it's not that easy to find. Quiet, nicely decorated, smart, clean and comfortable room (once we'd figured out how the sink plug worked.....!). Really friendly and helpful staff both at the reception centre and in the hotel. Huge choice at breakfast. Frequent buses into town but... more
The people at the Salisbury are lovely, really warm welcome, helpful with any questions and a really good breakfast too! We stayed in a 'Superior Double' for £70 per night which we thought was v good value too. Really glad my ever so clever girlfriend found this place so we didn't end up in one of the horrid chain hotels.... more
