We have just returned after a 2 night break at Fairwinds Hotel. The hotel can only be described as clean, welcoming and friendly, with excellent food. The service was superb, Alyson and Lindsay are fabulous hosts We stayed in the Cairngorm room which was spacious and spotlessly clean The food was outstanding, fresh home cooked produce, lovely choice. Word of... more
Can't add much to what other reviewers have already posted. The accommodation is first class, the food is excellent and Alyson & Lindsay are great hosts. Plenty to do around Carrbridge, only complaint was the weather (and that didn't spoil our enjoyment) more
I visited the Fairwinds in July 2008 with my girlfriend; the weekend stay was my birthday gift to her, and we were promised a romantic break. It most certainly didn't disappoint. By my girlfriend's own subsequent admission we had some concerns in advance about the half board option I'd selected, thinking that we'd be restricted in terms of our movements.... more
If you find a gem do you keep quiet or shout it from the rooftops? To be fair to Alyson & Lindsay it must be the latter. What an excellent place to stay the Fairwinds truly is, beautifully appointed, sumptuous food and magnificent service. We have just spent four nights there and would return in a heartbeat, watching the red... more
Having met in the old Aviemore centre nearly 37 years ago, my Wife and I were looking for somewhere special nearby to spend our 35th Wedding Anniverary, which ruled-out the recent concrete constructions. This small hotel proved to be an excellent choice. Clean, welcoming and friendly, with excellent food, one of the proprietors even lent me her telephoto lens to... more
We have stayed in the hotel and the chalets. There is no more peaceful feeling than waking early in the morning and opening the curtains to see the ducks and ducklings expectantly waddling to your patio doors for food and attention. The woodland walks around the hotel are excellent and safe. The cleanliness and service are without exception excellent. I... more
A beautiful setting for a lovely hotel, the food was excelent and the owners, Alison and Lindsay, were so friendly and chatty. One small criticism 'though - the soundproofing between our room and the one above was non existant (we could hear one of the guests upstairs snoring!) but, on the whole, we had a great time and we will... more
We have just returned after a 2 night break to the Fairwinds to celebrate our 25th Wedding anniversary. The service was superb, Alyson and Lyndsay made the whole experiance very personal and romantic for us. The superior room was fantastic ,the bed was so big ,I woke up during the night and wondered where my husband was as I couldnt... more
My girlfriend and I celebrated her 30th birthday here in January. We had a fantastic time; the food really was outstanding, the 'superior' room was warm, clean and comfortable with a lovely en suite, and the peaceful scenery around the hotel made us feel miles from the city- it made a great base for exploring the Cairngorms. However, what made... more
