This is a lovely hotel. Our room was large with gorgeous views with a huge bath. It was very busy with tour busses but still catered for us with a very good bar meal. The staff were busy but very freindly especially the barman Duncan. It was reasonably priced and we would stay again. more

Having arrived in Kyle of Lochalsh in the early evening with two young children we were relieved to secure a family room in what appeared to be an attractive hotel with spectacular views to the Isle of Skye.We paid what appeared to be an expensive B&B rate for a room which we had to access from outside the main hotel.Once... more

Great setting, spoiled by HORRIBLE staff and the filthiest room(s) we've ever seen!! Breakfast wasa joke...Chef was AWOL and the waitress stunk of alcohol...so no cooked, just continental, husband not impressed for the money we paid. Perhaps a glitch?! mmmmm...we stayed for our 2nd night and it was the worst decision ever. Meals apparently from 18:15, but again...chef AWOL!! He... more

Nice big room with good view and a huge bath. But... the room was dirty, the bed was shot. The corridors were dirty and gloomy. The staff were relentlessly unfriendly and unhelpful. The breakfast was unavailable ('cook isn't in yet' at 8:15). The dining room was dirty, including cutlery and crockery, with a floor that was smeared with something thick... more

Stayed here since I had a 7AM train to Inverness. The first room they gave me was dark, cold and dirty. Apparently it was part of the old rooms. They moved me to a much nicer room, but I wondered why they would give me such a room in the first place. Otherwise, perfectly adequate hotel in an area without... more

Went on a rail trip to Kyle and stayed at The Lochalsh Hotel. Staff very helpful and Friendly. Rooms are very large and very clean. The price charged is very competitive. Two minute walk from Rail station and coach stop. Ideal as a stopover. Will go again. more

Stayed two nights in June 07. The hotel location right on the sea front with views of the isle of Skye is fabulous. We were on the second floor with fabulous views to the Isle of Skye. Staff ok, rooms large but furniture especially the beds are way past their sell by date. bathroom also dated. bar meals very good,breakfast... more

The railways always got there first and the hotels they built were stunning in design and usually locations were second to none. For many years we had intended to enjoy this luxury in the form of the Lochalsh Hotel. Of our short break in the Western Isles this was to be the most costly of the hotels, but so what,... more

We booked to stop at this hotel about 4 years ago. I phoned the hotel and they took my card details to reserve the room. When we arrived they claimed that they new nothing about the booking. I explained that I had definitely booked but it was useless. They didn't have a room for us and we were left in... more

Stayed in KoL recently on business. It's your basic large, dated tourism hotel and now largely in decline unless there is major investment. I think it now mainly survives on bus tours. Good view from breakfast/dining room - right next to the water, so good views of bridge, the harbour etc. I was in what I suspect is one of... more
