this is my first review since joining tripadvisor but I will be filling you all in on any hotel or good spots I come across on my travels in the future.. my partner and I travelled to Kilkenny for weekend break , had nothing previiously booked but had been recommended the Kilford Hotel from friends. On arriving at Hotel it... more

Stayed here for one night with girlfriend. Check in was OK. The room was very small and there was a terrible smell of stale smoke. Not much use in opening window as the room was tucked away in a corner. Went down for dinner and there were only 2 other tables of 2 in the restaurant. Service was poor. Only... more

We stayed in Kilford arms for a hen party and found the staff extremely rude and very abusive. They staff behind the bar became very abusive as we blew whistles in the bar having a laugh (as you would on a hen party) and we were then told to "get the [--] from the bar" ..the abuse from the staff... more

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Kilford Arms on Valentines weekend. We were staying in a room at the very back of the hotel that was joined on to a Disco Bar. I wasn't looking for complete silence it was like the speakers from the bar were in our room. We booked a table in the restaurant for 8.30pm,... more

This hotel is on a main street in Kilkenny so the location is perfect for all restaurants and bars. The main problem we had was the overcharging for a room for the Bank Holiday Cat Laughs weekend. The room was small with 1 double (extremely flat) double bed with old fashioned decor. For €140 for the night, I was expecting... more

Just back from a weekend in this "hotel" and can safely say I will never go back. The staff were downright rude and had no regard for the customers of the hotel...the owner been the worst culprit. One of our group was assaulted by a member of staff...when reported to the manager he checked the CCTV and when he saw... more

They have the rudest staff i have ever come accross - the rudest been the owner himself. There was an incident on the 1st night were 2 off duty members of staff... more

A large group of us have been staying at this hotel for a number of years. This year was our last year. We arrived and went up to the rooms. The damp smell got progressively worse and as we reached our room it was so bad it would turn your stomach. This was bearable as we got used to it.... more

Stayed for our 9th year again. Why we go back every year is the location and you don't have to leave the hotel, as you have the bar downstairs and the disco bar upstairs. The bar staff are the rudest staff I have ever come across and the receptionists not much better. The nicest bar man there was foreign. The... more

the staff at the kilford arms were extremely uncouth, rude, without manners and without doubt the most unpleasant i have ever encountered in an irish hotel incidently they were made up entirely of irish staff. the rooms were untidy dusty and seemed to have stale odours eminating from them which can only be attributed to poor standards of hygiene-all in... more
