Like many others, I was attracted by the pictures on the website. We were really disappointed: - The neighborhood is not pleasant (prostitutes in the street) - The staff is totally unfriendly, and unwilling to help. - The room is not romantic at all: it is very small (even for Paris standards) and the view from the window is ugly... more

The best thing about Villa Van Gogh is its website, which gives the impression of a cosy romantic but stylish hotel. The false advertising here being that this hotel is not cosy, not romantic, and not stylish. In fact it was downright uncomfortable and unpleasant. Having booked the most expensive room possible we were delivered to a room with a... more

We just got back from a five week European vacation and I couldn't wait to get onto trip advisor to warn everyone to stay away from this hotel. It was awful. We had booked through Expedia because it showed some lovely photos of a room and a room with a balcony. When we booked we asked for a room with... more

I stayed there last winter in early 2005. At such a price, the room was very small. Cleanliness was just average. No facility of any kind was offered. As a small building located inside the downtown, there was no window view of any kind. The name Van Gogh was quite misleading as there was nothing related to Van Gogh except... more

You should consider this hotel if you are: (i) not looking for a beautiful or a romantic room and (ii) not considering spending too much time in your room (just a place to sleep and shower) then you should think about this hotel. My room was very small and the bathroom even smaller (not to mention the elevator – 3... more

NEGATIVE: No actual plug sockets in the room, staff advised in 'shower' room although it clearly states Shaver Socket Only.Still did not power up a dual voltage travel iron. If worked how would you iron mid air in a shower room- helath & safety?! Only plug socket located was behind a backbaord inside the warderobe where the tv went into.... more

I stayed 4 days in this hotel and it was a real pleasure to stay there. The hotel was renovated at the beginning of 2005. So the rooms are clean and comfortable. It's decorated with taste. Rooms are quite little but it's not disturbing. Moreover there is air conditionning, and it was very helful during the heat wave. The reception... more

Stayed last summer one night. Arrived late into the city due to problems with the airline. Between the subway and the hotel passed men in a fistfight and other men urinating on the side of this very hotel. Room smelled as if someone had been locked inside smoking unfiltered cigarettes for a month. The sheets smelled like cigs also, showing... more

Now part of the Best Western Hotel Chain - the former 19th century private mansion of the Van Gogh brothers hence small as always in Paris but quaint. Located near Pigalle Metro with easy walking distance to major shopping areas, the River Seine and Montmatre/Sacre Coure districts and the wonderful eateries/ambience around the Place du Tertre & Abbesses. area. An... more
