This property is now owned by Accor and is called the Mercure Beaux Arts Lyon. The hotel was one of the highlights of our trip to Lyon. The staff were friendly and helpful since we didn't speak French. The rooms were immaculate, comfortable and the junior suite is quite spacious. The breakfast at the hotel was delicious and the offerings... more

We've stayed here twice now, so can't have had the same horrible experiences as some of the other posters! For us it has been a perfectly adequate stop-over on a long journey down the length of France. The hotel is in a good location, with numerous places to eat nearby - great if you're tired and grubby, and want to... more

Stayed for 4 days over the May 4th weekend, mr brother and his wife and my wife and I each stayed in a Jr. suite. I was a little scared after reading some of the reviews here, but it turned out better than expected. Yes, the rooms are small, but everything was in good condition and clean. Bed was excellent.... more

This hotel is pretentious, rooms are tiny and furniture + bed in poor condition. Staff at the reception is unhelpful, pretentious + hardly competent. Avoid this place. more

I stayed in this hotel recently and found it to be a pleasurable experience. The room was a junior suite and was big enough for two people. The main thing this hotel has going for it is its location. It could not be more perfectly situated! It is right in the middle of town, with many excellent shops and cafes... more

Great location in old town. Hotel room was small; bathroom facilities very nice. The hotel staff are exceptionally unhelpful and grouchy. They do not extend themselves for any of their guests regardless of the language spoken. We stayed during the openning days of Lyon's Light Festival and people on the street were happy but not the staff of this hotel.... more

Stayed here last week. A great improvement on when I had stayed in 2003. I chose to return as the location was great, and the room I had then was acceptable. Now the positives definitely well outweigh the negatives, but the negatives are still irritating in a hotel pitching for business and tourist traffic in this location, and run by... more

The hotel is in a superb location! Louis Vuitton, Furla, Hermes and other luxury brands are just across the street, Printemps is behind, and the restaurant street is just a two minute walk away. The rooms are a bit old and some are tiny but the bathrooms are quite large and some are completely renovated. We had one room that... more

This hotel has much in its favor: central location, attentive service, nearby protected parking, comfortable rooms with well functioning A/C, acceptable breakfast buffet, and very reasonable rates. It is hard to imagine doing better in central Lyon without spending twice the money. It also lives up to its name as an artsy place, though the art is admittedly off-beat (we... more
