This is a beautiful hotel, it may not be cheap, but how many hotels have this kind of history? It is in the perfect location, has helpful staff - beautiful courtyards, delicious straight forward food and is a true gem. It may be slightly tired - but Im glad it hasnt been attacked by interior designers armed with bolts of... more

My wife and I stayed here (now) four years ago on our first trip together to Spain and it was absolutely gorgeous. Yes, it is one of the most expensive Paradors in all of Spain but it is worth every penny. In the heart of the city, you are only a few minutes walk from incredible bars, restaurants and shopping.... more

It's old, cranky, a little rusty, but... who cares! It's simply one of the most magnificent buildings, in one of the most impressive places you can spent the night. Try to take a walk in Plaza do Obradoiro late in the night and you will understand what I mean. The rooms are big and beaultiful, with wall one meter thick... more

Hotel lovely architecturally, food rather hum drum and vastly over priced even with the special half board deal, staff where generally haughty and unhelpful, The best thing to do would be go room only and eat out, the only benefit of the hotel, was the non smoking policy, almost impossible to find any where you are not assaulted by the... more

Simply superb. We stayed here with the Paradores 5 night card which brought the price down to a ludicrous £75 for a double room in one of the finest hotels in Spain. Wonderful surroundings, inside and outside. Santiago is a fantastic city - you won;t need to bother with the restaurant when you have so many superb seafood tapas bars... more

Oh dear. This really disappointed us. Probably the grandest and most impressive building aside from the cathedral in the city but not suitable to be used as a hotel. Magnificent architecture and stunning patios and splendid grandeur throughout but I would not recommend this for more than a flying visit. Reception very busy and had to wait 10 minutes to... more

Stayed here for one night with our two children. Excellent loaction on the main square next to the cathedral. The hotel is as historical as the rest of the town, with four quadrangles, loads of antiques and very atmospheric. Rooms were a good quality with usual five star amenities. Staff were helpful and polite. We did not eat in the... more

We stayed at this parador over Easter. It's a beautiful place and its location couldn't be better. The staff was warm and friendly. The room was not huge, but it was very comfortable and cozy. The furnishings were old school Spanish and it was fun to be in such surroundings. The bathroom was impressive - modern, recently refurbished and spacious.... more

After absorbing what the guide books and Paradores themselves say about this very famous hotel, we were somewhat disappointed. The setting is magnificent and walking through the corridors and inner courtyards is like living in another, older, world. Because of its heritage status it is a surprisingly public property and there are always a fair number of non-residents around exploring.... more

This has to be one of the most imposing hotels in Spain. The location is magnificent (on the cathedral square), and the facade and public areas are grandiose. Our room was spacious and charming! The dining room seemed to have lots of "attitude" -- but the food was good "enough' -- but not good enough to justify the feeling that... more
