I was extremely impresessed with this hotel. Okay it is a short walk from the centre of Madrid but there is a taxi rank right outside where you can jump in and spend less than 6 Euros goin to any part of the old town. I do not agree that the rooms were "spartan" as the previous review stated. In... more

When you see the rates for the Rafaelhoteles Atocha, you should know that you are not booking a luxury property, but a discount hotel. With that understanding, you should not be disappointed in this hotel. The rooms are simple and spartan, but clean. The staff does not provide 5-star service, but they are at least competent. The breakfast is not... more

I stayed at this hotel while in Madrid on business. The hotel is within walking distance of the city centre and the rooms are all clean and comefortable with a modern look and feel. As a business visitor I had no complaints. If travelling to Madrid as a tourist I imagine that this hotel would be quite expensive and better... more

I stayed here for one night. The staff are unfriendly and sometimes even downright rude. They weren't helpful when I asked about the nearest metro stop or local stores/restaurants. The room was bigger than expected (I had a single room) and the bathroom was clean. The only redeeming quality for this hotel is that it's in a quiet neighborhood and... more

The hotel itself is not bad, but the staff at the front desk and during breakfast is unexperienced and not friendly at all. During breakfast you may observe the very young and untrained staff. Their fingers are in their hair, nose, ears, mouth ... and seconds later they touch the plates... Some cups were not clean, we asked for a... more

Apparently customer service is not important at this property. I was part of a 40 person tour group that stayed here on Oct 06 and Oct 07. The hotel A/C was shut off and room temp was 80 degrees. Reason told to us and our tour director was that a number of guests complained that it was too cold. Each... more

My girlfriend and I stayed here for three nights in April this year. It was a friend's 30th birthday weekend so we didn't choose it but we weren't disappointed. The staff were polite and very friendly and the room was clean, comfortable and not too small. We didn't have breakfast because we always like to eat out for breakfast, not... more

Not a bad hotel, except that several of its front office staff do not speak or understand English properly. As well, one cannot get a tour planned at this hotel. Hotel and rooms very clean. more

Our tour group stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our Highlights of Spain and Portugal tour. Both mornings the hotel was very unreliable with wake up calls. It was either too early, too late or not at all according to the tourists I talked with. The breakfast was nice BUT the hot food was served much later... more

I booked this hotel through the Hotels website for the amazing price of $90 / night (taxes included). The hotel is terrific, with clean attractive public spaces, and a great room with brand new beds and a very nice bathroom. Hotel restaurant was also very nice and a good bargain. Breakfast buffet was 10 euros and good. Hotel in rather... more
