The five star luxury Wellington hotel is said to be one of the top three hotels in Madrid and I can't deny that. The Ritz and the Westin are the other luxury five star hotels, but they do not have the outdoor swimming pool privilege that there is at The Wellington. I was lucky to stay in July and the... more

We stayed 8 nights at this beautifully appointed hotel In June/July 2008, combining a pleasure trip with a business commitment. The staff was very courteous, helpful and fluent in English. They were always able to steer us towards points of interest, shoe stores (very important for one of us) and arranged for us to see an English speaking dentist (one... more

It's always difficult to judge a place when you haven't necessarily tried the competition. The hotel was fine, did not necessarily have huge amounts of character but this is a matter of personal taste i guess. However it is really well placed, we walked back in the middle of the night and felt totally safe. It's about a 15 mins... more

I can't tell whether they claim to be 5 star - or just 4 -depends on the website you choose I guess. I'd give it a 3 regardless. Upon check in I handed the clerk my airline card to receive mileage credits. Although they are affiliated with this airline - because I had a "special promotion rate" -they would not... more

We stayed at The Wellington over Easter 2008 arriving Thursday before Good Friday and leaving Easter Sunday. First things first --- beware the cab drivers when you arrive at Madrid Airport! We'd been warned and true to form our driver tried to scam an extra 10 euro out of us, the hotel kindly informed us by email to expect to... more

I’ve stayed at the Wellington from 21.3 to 28.3 and I have to say that everything was excellent. I travel very often, I always stay in five star hotels, and I am very demanding but the service and the staff at the Wellington Hotel was impeccable. Its location is excellent and handy (10 minutes in a taxi to Plaza España),... more

Having stayed in Madrid before I wanted to try somewhere different, but still close to the places I love: The Retiro Park, Salamanca and The Prado. The Wellington fitted the bill and it was the perfect place for a weekend away with my best friend. It's in a great location, walkable to all the cultural spots and close to Calle... more

This is my third time the the Wellington, and once again, I was not disappointed. The hotel has excellent staff, is clean, comfortable, great food for room service, located within a 15 minute walk to museums. The subway is close by and easy to take. There is a great little take away a few blocks away called Mallorca's (ask reception... more

A well located, small, classic hotel offering all the comfort and convenience for the business traveller. Rooms are run of the mill but well appointed with good room service and mini bar. Bathrooms are well serviced. The room in general seemed a littel dated with little gems of modernity (bath/shower taps, flat screen TV and interactive entertainment system) accentuating an... more

The Wellington is a beautiful building, and the interior, communal areas are extremely well appointed. I see that the hotel is now billed as a 4-star hotel, which is about right - when i visited it was touted as 5-star, and was definitely not of this class. Rooms were ok, with very nice bathrooms, but we were annoyingly (like in... more
