My husband and I stayed at the Gran Melia Fenix for 4 days in November. I have stayed in several places in Madrid- Westin Palace, Hotel Hesperia, Melia Los Galgos- the Gran Melia Fenix rivals all. The location simply cannot be beaten- you have access to everything without the claustrophobic feeling you get staying in the area around the Ritz/... more

Everything I would expect from a 5* hotel. I have to admit, this is the first 5* hotel I have stayed in but I was not disappointed. The lobby is a bit small, but very beautiful with a grand staircase. Also on the same floor there is a beautiful little lounge and bar room with a very cozy feel. There... more

Stayed in Gran Melia Fenix in June 2008 in a king non-smoking corner room. Room was good size, very clean, with large bathroom complete with plenty of toiletries, hair dryer, robe, slippers, etc. Bed was a litte hard. Armoire had safe and mini-bar. Internet access in room is 8EUR. Staff was all helpful and kind; concierge offered good recommendations on... more

Hotels in Madrid tend to be quite expensive and the Grand Fenix is no exception . The Location is ok its about 15 minutes walk from the main tourist attractions . There are two types of rooms the ones that face inwards with no view which are a bit small however the bed was comfy . My colleague asked for... more

We came here as a graduation present for my son. We have 5 in the family and ended booking two rooms that connected. We arrived late in the morning and they had the rooms available--not always the case in Europe. The staff was fantastic. We didn't ask for much and sometimes didn't leave the hotel until around 2pm. Our rooms... more

Stayed here on business in a Royal Service Room with access to private lounge. King size bed - one bed not two singles. Tiny bathroom but as I was on my own not a problem. Double glazing fantastic - room was on Catellana - main drag through Madrid and I couldn't hear a thing! Remote controls for lights, A/C etc... more

The property is conveniently located in the Serrano district with easy access to many shops and restaurants. Taxi cabs in Madrid are pretty cheap so you have easy access to a gran Via/Puerta de Sol as well as the museums. The staff was generally helpful with requests and recommendations. The breakfast buffet is decent, but if you want something that's... more

Arrived at the Gran Fenix Madrid following a 4 night stay in Prague at around 10pm (following flight delays). Group of 4. Husband and Wife. Son and Grand Mother. Note for Spain twin rooms - the beds are seperate but always together and will need to be pulled apart to suit 2 people sharing. Booked Gran Fenix on a special... more

Stayed here a few weeks ago on a business trip. Hotel lobby is very nice with a comfortable sitting area. Front desk staff was excellent and very helpful. Did not use the restaurant as there are many places within easy walking distance. Hard Rock Cafe is in the same building on the other side, so that was good. Great location... more

The room we booked was a Royal Service Premium Room, with a request for a double bed not two beds pushed together. Upon arrival we were given a room which to describe as small would be an understatement, you couldn't swing a cat in it! The carpet was disgusting, filthy dirty, and appeared to have dried blood on it. -... more
