The Hotel Puerta America is a truly unique luxury hotel in Madrid. I stayed for business and thought the hotel was lovely and perfectly central for both work and tourist activities -- 15 min cab ride to/from the airport, 3 minute walk to the Metro station (loved the metro!) and/or a 10 min cab ride downtown. As you will read... more

This is a lovely hotel, definitley a 5 star hotel. Each floor is individual as it has been designed by a different architect. We stayed on the Katherine Finlay floor (8th) which was very space age and all in white and very modern. Very trendy! If you're after a swanky hotel this is the place to stay. I have stayed... more

We had planned to stay at the Puerta America for a night after a 10 hour flight from Uruguay. We had booked for the Ron Arad floor, unfortunately, the hotel e-mailed us a week before to inform us that that floorm would be renovated. We then asked for the Plasma Studio floor. Our flight landed at 7am, we decided to... more

I cannot fault this hotel..in a word it was amazing. A must see for any designer or architect. It is situated next to the underground and bus station. Easy links to the airport and city centre. It was too far to walk into the city but the public transport is excellent and there are cheap taxis everywhere. Staff are extremely... more

We were presented with a book of the individual floors in order to choose which floor was OK for us. We chose the 10th (Japanese) floor. Although the room was a bit too dark, it didn’t matter because the whole setting was just amazing. It’s not something I would like to have at home, but it was a great experience.... more

I found staying at this hotel a fantastic experience. Yes, it is totally impractical but it is also quite stunning. No expense has been spared on the decor and I am sure that even a short break will remain long in the memory of anyone who stays here. The location is a bit out of the way but that is... more

The first impression I got when I arrived to this hotel was: a modern, abstract and sofisticated place, a place for artists, decorators, arquitects, etc, but then one day after I discovered it is not a good place for businessmen, families or old people. The rooms are nice and big, but not practical to work, my room was practically black... more

This hotel does fall into the trap of style over substance somewhat but the style is just about good enough to make up for it. Good things about the hotel: Requesting a particular floor before you go that fits in with your personal aesthetic. The view from, and the music in, the top floor bar. The food in the restaurant... more

We stayed for three nights last week. An amazing hotel but it concentrates more on style than practicality, eg you had to move the furniture to access the fridge! We stayed on the 6th floor where the entirely red corridor felt very claustrophobic. The room looked good but the bed was designed with a gap so that your head could... more

This hotel is not like any other hotels. Make sure you stay at a floor that makes you comfortable though, not all floors are like that. My favourite are floor 7 if you are in love or single traveller and 6 if you share a room with just a friend. Location could be better though, a little bit far from... more
