As with other travellers we thought we'd carry out some reasearch about Rome and where to stay....well we found this little gem and it is quite simply an amazing 'guest house' wouldn't call it a Hotel as it is a reception desk with rooms, but don't let this put you off beutifuly decorated throughout private, quite and safe. Beautiful location... more
This hotel had a great location for those travelling light. It was a level 15 minute walk to the Termini station where we got off the airport express train. If you stuck your head out the window and looked left you could see the Coliseum about 6 blocks away. The room was modern but still had nice wood beams, and... more
A snug hotel set in what felt like a village in a valley in the centre of the city, and the local restaurants were just great. We were able to roll our cases there pretty easily from the railway station and we found the Colleseum and Palatime just over the brow of the hill. Room was spacious and bathroom modern.... more
The reply I got from the hotel booking said "please remember we are a guesthouse and not a hotel" . This filled me with unfounded trepidation. It simply meant no coffee/ drink facilities although there was a wet bar in the room. It is a beautiful boutique style place. Small but very modern. Lots of glass to give it an... more
Hotel Sunset is a lovely place to stay if you want to be on a quite street, just off Via Nationale (noisy, busy). It is very close to the Colosseum and in walking distance of everything except the Vatican. Rooms are very clean and modern, a bit small with firm beds, but that is the the norm in Italy. Great... more
Our visit started badly when we discovered we had been conned by a cab-driver who had marked his car as a taxi, told us he was a taxi, but then tried to charge limousine rates. Having sorted him out in no uncertain terms, Andrea, the charming patron of the Sunset hotel, then took us under his wing, and proved to... more
We did a lot of research and chose the Sunset taking into account previous traveler reviews plus our perception of value for money. For a 3-star hotel, the Sunset is an excellent choice. We would go back any time. Andrea is very helpful and runs a very neat operation. Our room was in a second level via a beautiful glass-floor... more
Hotel Sunset was a small but charming hotel about 5 minutes from the Colosseum. Our room was quiet despite having a view onto the street and had good air conditioning and was nicely furnished. As it was small the front desk was informal and most of the time it felt like we were staying in an apartment in the city.... more
We stayed here in late June 2007. Andrea couldn't have been more helpful. From his orientation when we arrived to the cleanliness of our room, we really enjoyed this hotel. Two from our party stayed in the flat - this was a great place for everyone in our group to relax. The mattress was very firm - some from our... more
