I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in April. I chose this hotel fascinated of its website but really don't believe it . The only positive things of this hotel are: 1. Its location is great. 5 min. or less to Piazza San Marco and it is on the sea so if you are lucky (and pay more) and... more

I stayed 2 nights at the Gabrielli Sandwirth in April-08. I certainly wont be coming back... The hotel's main (and potentially only) strength is its location. You are located right on the lagoon and within easy walking distance of St Marks. The water ferry station is right out the front which meant you werent carrying your bags for ages to... more

I was worried about some of the more negative reviews about the hotel, especially as I am a light sleeper and didn't want to pay the upgrade to a lagoon view. Fortunately, we got put in room 501 which although at the back of the hotel was on the fifth floor and had a wonderful roof top view complete with... more

The location is the main attraction, being a short walk from St Mark’s Square and 100m from the water bus stop which led right up the Grand Canal. The views over the lagoon are fantastic. The staff are generally very friendly and helpful. Nothing about this hotel warrants 4 stars. It is tired and jaded. The rooms need a complete... more

Okay, so the hotel could do with a refurb, but what a great location! Our room overlooked the Lagoon and we had the most fantastic views - archytpal Venice was just outside our windows and St Mark's was maybe 50-100ms away. Don't let the attitude of the staff put you off this hotel. From an initial frostiness to beaming smiles... more

The hotel is in a great location....you don't have to lug heavy bags very far once off water ferry. And there are ramps on and off water bus and over most main bridges in Venice. Anyway, the hotel was old of course. i thought the common areas were cozy and elegant. Old, not so much rundown. my room was small... more

We stayed at the Hotel Gabrielli the first week of October 2007. Although a superior room overlooking the lagoon had been requested, we were ushered to room 103 in the back. Our view was of a wall and drainpipe. Air conditioning never worked. The staff were very surly and seemed to be annoyed that we were there. Noisy kitchen sounds... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth for 4 nights in June as a last minute impulse holiday and we were not disappointed. There seems to be a common theme among the reviews in that majority of the rooms are very small, however we did pay that bit extra for a deluxe room. It was very expensive... more

If my stay at this hotel taught me anything it was not to trust Hotel web sites in future. It is promoted as elegant and stylish, with plenty of amazing photos which were obviuosly taken several years ago. It is, in fact, dark, drab and dated with most of the elegant furniture removed. We were made to feel most unwelcome... more

While some staff were polite and helpful, others did quite a good job of combining being quite rude with fairly overt attempts to stare down the front of my dress. Needless to say I ate out for most of my visit. One would have hoped that staff at a 4 star hotel would have good enough training to show people... more
