Very convenient on the vaporetto from Piazzale Roma not so handy on foot for San Marco Square about 15 minutes walk/hike which I personally could have done without in my hurry to the Square for the Carnevale activities. We stayed at the Pensione Calcina in Dorsoduro for the final two nights of a 4-night visit to Venice (our first) having spent the first two nights in the Cannaregio district, and the difference in these two sestieri is marked.
