The San Pietro exceeded all our expectations as a 5 star Italian hotel. It was simplicity, beauty and sophistication all rolled into one. The rooms was perfect, and elegant with a large terrace. The service was unsurpassed, with nothing being too much trouble (special thanks to Luca). The garden terrace, pool and views were breathtaking every day when you looked... more

5 star hotel with 7 star prices and 3 star service. We found the hotel to be very stuffy and far too formal on occasions. We received 'complimentary' water in the room only on the first night and when I enquired from staff we were given water for the second night but were charged on departure! Unusal considering the prices.... more

For my wife, Christine, and I this was definitely a 5 star experience. The welcome at reception was extremely warm. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were always cheerful and responsive. The included buffet breafast was excellent. We emailed ahead to ask them to have skim milk available because we've found this to be a problem in... more

We stayed in March and it was 25 degrees centigrade outside but there was no air conditioning available in the room. Despite their web site and information in the room to say they offer air conditioning. Like other reviews it is only available at limited times of the year, definitely not a 5 star service. We did get excellent service... more

We stayed here in April 2008. It is definitively NOT a 5* hotel. The only 5*-things about it is the ocean view and the price. The balconys are nice and spacious with great view, and the rooms are ok. (although absolutely no water pressure in the shower) BUT - the service of the hotel staff is less than average. When... more

We chose this hotel above other five stars in town as it is a relais and our experience of relais hotels to date is great. It did not let us down. We were looked after at all times with a polite and efficient service - quite formal. Hotel is quite traditional in style but has a pretty and quiet bar... more

There is little left to say about the San Pietro that other reviewers have not already said. A fantastic hotel - an oasis of peacefulness with excellent service and standards of all round cleanliness, decor etc etc. As other reviews state, food is on the pricey side - but when you are on the door step of the quaint Taormina... more

This hotel was listed in several travel books as top of the line and expensive, both of which were true, but well worth it. Definitely more of a couples hotel than family, although there were some kids. The hotel is quite beautiful and our balcony had a view of Giardini-Naxos Harbor and Mt. Etna. The grounds are well kept with... more

A beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. It may not be the best for a family with young children, but is perfect for couples! the place is a little pricey in terms of the room service menu, but for a 5* hotel what do you expect The only 1 negative point I can say, was that there were no... more

We received a complimentary upgrade to the San Pietro after booking our honeymoon at the sister hotel - the Caparina - and finding it was simply awful on arrival. The San Pietro was complete luxury, an oasis of calm and tranquility with understated elegance. The hotel had a fabulous, well serviced, pool with beautiful views of Isola Bella and the... more
