Look, this place certainly aint the Ritz and if you have the budget, you might want to think about going elsewhere. But really, what do you need in Amsterdam other than a bed and clean toilet and shower? The room I stayed in was the small budget room, which at 50 euros a night during school hols, you can't complain... more

Firstly the hotel is not where it is stated on google maps and is a bit further out from the centre than expected. The room was so small that I actually had a real feeling of claustraphobia one of the nights. My request for a canal view room was also ignored and our window looked out over a derelict garden.... more

After reading some, well, interesting reviews we decided to take our chances and stay in the Townhouse Hotel. What we found was a pleasant and relaxed (well this is Amsterdam) enviroment.Granted, if you were used to the highest of standards of hotels and are so far stuck up your own arse, well then....steer clear! For me and my girlfriend, however, we found it just... more

We stayed at the Townhouse 6-11 May and arrived at the front door in the pouring rain only to find that you had to check in at their sister hotel 3 bridges up the main street, which was a pain. We were given room 10 (the 'Anne Frank' room!) and one of us had to sit down on the bed... more

Four girls stayed here for a long wkend in July06. The steps were very steep, but we found the comical side and were careful (even with a skin full) so it was ok really. We got to our room (on 2nd floor, i think) and had to laugh really as it was the size of prob a double room but... more

This was the 3rd hotel that i stayed at within Amsterdam (Quentin England and Quentin respectively) and this was the best value BY FAR. The twin room was spacious and clean. And Reuben was absolutely kind, friendly and helpful -- twice as much as either previous hotel. The only suggestion that I would make is to either provide screens for... more

We stayed here in May for 3 nights, the attraction being that it was an authentic canal house. In that respect, we were not disappointed. However, the decor left a lot to be desired and the room we booked was advertised for 3 people really only had space for 2. Opinions are formed from expectations and maybe we expected too... more

Well, while I agree that this place has the charm that one reviewer says, I also agree with another reviewer that it is a hostel and too expensive for what it is. The host was very nice and served us tea/coffee after the designated hours, though. Also, you really can't beat the location. However, there were no screens on windows.... more

We stayed here for about £20 each per night in rooms of 3 / 4 which was very good considering the relatively central location in Amsterdam. It is definitely a hostel rather than a hotel though. As other reviewers have said there is no lift and the stairs are VERY steep (there are four flights of them if you're right... more

Despite the name of this place including "hotel" it is most certainly a hostel. If that's what you want, it may be fine. It was NOT what I wanted. The room was clean (though all rooms are smoking). The bathroom (outside the rooms and not on every floor) is a tiny, unventilated broom closet. There are very narrow, VERY steep... more
