We stayed here as part of a 3 centre holiday, 6nts Albufeira, 4 nts Lisbon, 6 nts Alvor. The Avenida Palace has grand decor and a bit of the wow factor! Take time and effort to visit each floor as the decor is different on each landing. There is a nice bar and an opulent lounge area. The rooms have... more
Beautiful but faded, stylish hotel in a fantastic location - very central with shops & tourist sights all around. Great for evening as many restaurants within short (safe) stroll. Staff very helpful and attentive, desk good for general or tourist info. We visited to celebrate a birthday and requested nicest room available on booking form - hotel upgraded us to... more
We stayed in the Avenida Palace Hotel from 2nd - 5th May 2008. We thought overall the hotel was lovely, in the best location and we were delighted with our choice. The hotel itself is very grand and feels like a step back in time. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The location is fantastic, right in the town... more
No spa? Who cares! No high-tech gimmicks? Who gives a damn?! A wonderful, wonderful place. One of the best-preserved belle-epoque hotels I have ever seen. Furnished throughout with the most exquisite, priceless antiques. Not an ugly object in sight. Yes, the mattress was a bit soft but what a walk down the central staircase! The chandeliers in the breakfast room... more

It was also a very short walk to the 28 tram stop (for the rickety old tourist tram... more
My daughter and I stayed here for a few nights early in March. The location is the reason I booked this hotel. The staff won us over, first by upgrading us to a Jr. Suite and then by sending a special gift of wine and fruit to the room since they found out it was my birthday (Feb 29). They... more
I stayed at the Avenida Palace with 4 friends in January 2008. I was worried because of the trip advisor comments on drains. However though my extremely comfortable room required airing, once I had opened the window for a short whileand turned down the central heating it was fine. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The dining room is fin... more
The building and the location are really excellent: few steps from the Elevator de Santa Justa. The hall, the bar and the breakfast room are a dream: it's appear to be in a movie on 1920... The room should be refurbished to offer a really 5 stars comfort but, mayby, the charm of this hotel is also this. The bathroom... more
