Stayed here in the height of Summer and loved it. We were met on arrival at the castle gates by the little trolley bus that drives you through the old city walls and up to the hotel, which got our stay off to a good start. Very helpful staff and a lovely room. Shame it didn't have more of a... more

Some parts of this hotel were spectactular and some parts were way below average. The Positives. The building itself was lovely--just as shown on the website. The location, within the walls of the Castello, was probably the most picturesque in Lisbon from what I saw. The staff was very helpful and friendly, if not a bit bedraggled from overwork. Also,... more

Beautiful, sophisticated property. The staff was very accomodating, assisted in recommendations for tours and some great restaurants (Eleven, Sacramento and the Pousado at the Castle). While others have noted that the rooms are small, they are very nicely appointed and comfortable. Turndown service was provided every evening, tidying of bathroom along with a bottle of Port to end your evening... more

This is a small, well appointed & elegant hotel. It is beautiful, serene & relaxing. The caretakers are engaging & will go that extra mile to accommodate you. The rooms are cozy and accent the personality of the hotel. It fosters goodwill & I was impressed. Sitting in the courtyard (where there always seems to be a caressing breeze) during... more

We stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary & would highly reccomend it. As a previous trip advisor has said, the courtyard is a welcome addition to a city hotel as it gives you somewhere to sit & relax after a busy days sightseeing.. so much nicer than feeling confined to your room. The rooms are pleasantly decorated & again... more

To find peace and quiet right next door to one of Lisbon's busiest tourist attractions is quite incredible. Solar do Castello's real charm lies in its wonderful terraced courtyard complete with water feature and day bed piled high with brightly coloured cushions. It compels you to relax, grab a drink from the honesty bar and laze in the cool shade... more

Four of us stayed at this lovely boutique hotel in May; however what we were not aware or informed of, was the planned festivities in the Castle next door.. we left home at 3am and thought we would have a rest in our rooms, after a lovely lunch at the castle before our planned evening at a very special restaurant. The... more

we spent 5 very good nights here in mid-december 2006. we received superb attention and assistance from the whole staff. we were experiencing a temporary (4 day) lack of luggage and they called the airline people constantly. the hotel itself was very nice and is a great base for seeing Lisbon. the bus and walking were both very convenient. breakfast... more

My partner and I just returned from a four-day, three night stay in Lisbon at the Solar Do Castelo Hotel. In a word, it is perfect. The rooms, though not large, are beautifully appointed with elegant Portugese matalaise bed linens, beautiful hardwood floors, and a small Juliet balcony overlooking the stunning courtyard below. The tub is deep enough for soaking... more
