The location is central city and close to a lot of sights (2 minutes walk to the waterfront). Our first apartment was on the 3rd floor facing the street and Yes, it was very noisy indeed. The bed was too soft and so we woke with backache. The room was also very dimly lit (I like brightly lit rooms particular... more

Clean, comfortable centrally located hotel, friendly staff. Good room facilities including kitchen area, complimentary continental breakfast pack and washer and dryer in the room. Some outside noise due to central location, but easy access to all nightlife, restaurants and 5 minutes walk from the cable car. Good value for money. more

This hotel is in a really good location, close to shops etc but the hotel itself is quite old. The room seemed clean and tidy but hotel hallways are quite tattered, the lift is ancient. No onsite parking is a bit of a pain. We stayed in a one bedroom on the first floor and as it has no aircon... more

I booked this property because of its qualmark rating. It lists itself as a hotel and it was qualmarked as a motel which is an entirely different rating system. The carpets in the hallway were spotted. The noise level in the property was very bad. You could hear every door that closed. It took 2 hours to defrost the freezer.... more

The best thing about this hotel is it's proximity to good shopping and great restaurants and nightlife. Lambton Quay is an excellent source for New Zealand fashion with many small boutiques in the mid to high dollar range. About a 10 minute walk from the hotel is Courtney Street with many interesting shops and restaurants. Near Courtney Street is Cuba... more

We were not thrilled during our stay. The staff were very nice and helpful, but they couldn't solve the big problems with the hotel. It is probably the only hotel in downtown WN without air conditioning. So it was either hot or noisy. Also the beds and pillows were horrible. We had prepaid through ---.com and after the first night... more

We were a party of 4 adults. Myself, wife and two daughters in their 20's. We booked a two bedroom apartment at the Quest for a one night stay before boarding the ferry to South Island the following morning. Apartment was huge and priced less than two double rooms would have cost us at a tourist hotel. Kitchen was well... more

I stayed for a couple of nights in May. The first night I stayed in a studio. It was okay but has definately seen better days. The bathroom was very decent though, large and with a washer/dryer. My only main concern was noise. The hotel is situated bang slap in the middle of the city, so some noise is to... more

Stayed here on 2 different occasions recently while travelling around NZ. We had a studio unit for nz$99 per night for the first time and $130 for the next night. It was warm, clean and all we could want for a studio unit. Perfectly located and great value for money, although we did get lucky with the price and it... more
