We stayed in the hotel for 4 nights. In principle the hotel has 2 types of rooms: Economy rooms, which are more old-style and has not been renovated (although bathroom in our room was completely new), and Standard rooms, which are more rustic-style but completely renovated. We stayed in an Economy room. Pros: - Centrally located. Within 15-20 minutes walk... more

My husband and I had a great time in Budapest. Part of this was due to the hotel! It was in a great location, you literally walked out onto the street and down to the Metro station. The Metro was so easy to use. The room was big and clean. The bathroom was the same with a rose in a... more

Had a great stay at the Danubias Astoria this summer. The location has to be one of the most central in Budapest - right in the heart of Pest. Almost all the main sights were within walking distance and only needed to make 1 or 2 metro journeys in the few days we were there. I was hesitant about booking... more

We loved Budapest - so much to see and do in the 5 days we were there, and still more to see on our next visit. The hotel is beautiful downstairs and the staff were excellent. Breakfast couldn't be faulted with a large range to chose from - hot and cold. The hotel is excellently situated with all the main... more

We arrived in the evening and were met by a most pleasant and helpful receptionist. Our non-smoking room was spacious, clean and comfortable and situated, as we had requested, on an upper floor. Although the Hotel is situated on a very busy intersection with trams, buses, cars, sirens etc. traversing all night the double glazed door to the mini balcony... more

Stayed 3 nights in Aug 07. The reception is undergoing restoration and when completed the hotel will be truly first class. Staff helpful, food excellent, room (renovated) was excellent ... hotel with central location and good for metro outside front door. I mark the place as Above average but would be Excellent on completion of reception. more

Stayed here several times before & after its rennovation in 2006. Bathroom much nicer but room is all cheap furniture & fabric. Something you see in Ibis Hotel or Holiday Inn. If you want handy location, gd size room, this is ok (provided that you don't pay full rate.) If you want true 4-star charm, look elsewhere! K+K Opera is... more

I've stayed at this hotel twice and, despite my ambivalence, I am drawn back to it for a third time in February 2007. It's main attractions for me are the price (66Euro inc tax and a good buffet breakfast) and location - handy for the metro, restaurants/bars on Raday Utca, shops on Vaci Ut. Book a standard room in the... more

My friend and I stayed in the Astoria over New Year 2006/07. Having read some of the reviews we were a little worried. No need to be however as the Hotel was great. Lovely rooms if a little dated in style but freshly decorated, clean and newly installed bathrooms. The breakfasts were great, everything you could think of and more!... more
