We very much enjoyed our stay at Senátor Ház Hotel (its name in Hungarian). It made our visit to the beautiful town of Eger even better. I can’t add much to the excellent reviews that this hotel has already received, except to say they are all correct! We had drinks at the hotel’s outdoor space several times; it’s a great... more
What a great hotel! Staff are brilliant, food is outstanding, rooms are great and the location is almost perfect. Eger itself is beautiful as well. more
Stayed at the Senator House for a week in May on a working holiday with a group of 10 colleagues. Very welcoming, rooms fairly basic but impeccably clean, all had AC. Bathrooms were of a high standard with bath, shower and hairdryer as well as little extras like showergel dispensers. Breakfast consisted of usual cereal, juice, rolls etc with cheese,... more
We loved the place. Rooms were fine but not luxurious, but it oozed character. We toured by car and it took a while to find the hotel, but after we did, they had secure parking nearby. Restaurant was very good for your intimate dining, and Eger has a bit of a reputation for fine wines - believe it. We choose... more
The Hotel Senator Haz is located in the heart of Eger right on the main square. It is a delightful 18th century building full of old picutres and furniture which gives it a real atmosphere. The rooms are comfortable and clean and many overlook Eger's fabulous main square and huge Baroque church. We were delighted with this hotel. It is... more
I agree with other writers, especially the GRUFF owner (but his wife was nice, although she does not speak English). He doesn't seem to like Americans?? Almost RUDE in ignoring questions like he doesn't speak english, but he does. We enjoyed sitting at the outside hotel tables, having meals and drinks and watching the "action". Food was excellent. It's a... more
The location is lovely. The hotel is lovely. The A/C is typical European which means its great until the outside temperature exceeds 80F. The bed, well, not the most comfortable. But the room was large and very comfortable. The staff is another issue. What a gruff gentleman! He really needs to find a new way to make a living. Public... more
We arrived in town without a reservation because we were traveling mid-week in October and felt we didn't need one. Sure enough, there was plenty to choose from around town. We went first to the Senator Hotel based on the mostly positive reviews in this book. The room we were shown was likely the same as the previous negative reviewer's... more
Senator Haz is an old building furnished with quirky, interesting antiques. Our room was very large and an odd shape with a good sized comfy bed. The bathroom was clean and looked recently refurbished with a nice bath and over-bath shower. We had a dehumidifier (I think) in the room with the outlet pipe dangling from the window. Strange and... more
