We were on a driving holiday from Hungary to Poland and everywhere in between!! We loved Slovakia and everything about it. There was extremely heavy snow when we were there and perhaps it might have been better to wait for good driving conditions but the snow just added to the beauty of the whole trip. We stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Grand in Zilina (about 100 miles from Bratislava). The hotel was reasonable value (£55 per night B&B) but be wary of the 3 star+ rating. There aren't even hairdryers and toiletries comprised a small sachet of shampoo. The so-called double room we were given had 2 single beds in separate corners of the... more
